I would like to get it up to 30% but have not tried. Should I? Will I be able to with my RAM...? Also, if I was to purchase new RAM, which I probably would, which should I purchase? And, if I purchase that new RAM, would I be able to keep this RAM in or not? Thanks for your help guys, and any other suggestions you guys could give to my rig would be awsome. I really love my comp, I spent all summer saving my money up to get it, and its been running great, I just wanted to ask you pros for your advice, and tips. Thanks for reading my post, hope you respond! ~Jackal Edited October 26, 2003 by DarkJackalX
dino-new Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 What's your FSB? Also the PC4200 ram should hold up to 266 (533 mhz) or 1066 fsb. It should be good for as much as you can give it with that cpu at 1:1. I went with the OCZ PC4200 enhanced latency (2.5-7-4-4 @ 533 mhz) It's pretty hot stuff, I think. If your temps are good, (under 60c) but I would keep them below 55c, just in case, you should be able to hit 230-240 fsb. 3450 mzh - 3600 mhz. I'm not sure if you could do it with air cooling, so wach your temps. Be safe, not sorry. I'm running my 3.2ghz at 3.6 stable, but I've got liquid cooling right now. Good luck, Devin
GmAz Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 What do you mean by 20% and 30%? Are you calculating the percent yourself, or are you upping the memory frequency, or are you using the multiplier and FSB?
DarkJackalX Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Typo.. I have PC3200 DDR400, also in my Jumperfree BIOS, I can Overclock by %percentages, such as 5, 10, 20 and 30 percent, and also add turbo. I have the P4P800 Deluxe Motherboard, by ASUS. ~Jackal Oh.. and I have 800 MHz FSB, but with the overclock it brings it too, 240 (x4). Currently I am at 20% OC, and I have a idle temperature of 30C and a load of 33C. 3.6GHz 960FSB
dino-new Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Those are some pretty good temps. And good OC'ing. I probably wouldn't bring it any higher. Actually, I would be supprised if you could get it much higher. The P4's seem to be tapped at about 3.6-3.7 without going sub zero. With a good vapor system you could get 4.2 or so. Will Smith Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 (edited) if you want to be more precise on that overclocker I would recommend that where u set the overclock at (AI Overclock 5%,10%,etc...) That u set that to manual and then u can adjust your FSB in smaller incriments. also u will be able to adjust your vcore memory settings and the rest. GL. By the way take Turbo off and also take Memory accelerator off. Edited October 26, 2003 by Will Smith
DarkJackalX Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 What is Turbo? I have it on, but I have no idea what it is. I will turn it off, though, thanks for the tip. ~Jackal
dino-new Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 I think that turbo is the mem timings. If your mem timings are too agressive then it will hinder your ability to overclock. So take it off turbo and try again. Devin
corning_d3 Posted October 28, 2003 Posted October 28, 2003 I must have cheap RAM Because my system won't even boot with Turbo on.......
