Rebelranger Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 I just installed the updated Uli drivers and system is great. However in doing so I'm getting an error code 10 device cannot start on my single Sata WD 500GB on the Sil 3114 controller.. I've unisntalled, reinstalled and still the same. I followed all the other posts and still can not get the drive to show in windows.(it shows in the Bios during boot) Are there other versions or more recent drivers? Are the oned on the Silicon Image site ok to use? Im using SiL driver version 1.2.0.5 9/3/2003 (non raid from the supplied CDRom)
boo_masters Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Hey man Just posted in your original thread before I saw this one. I updated my SiL 3114 drivers to the latest from their site. However, I run my drives through the SATAs utilizing the ULi chip. If you had the system working before these problems, I fixed a wroking-then-not-working problem by restoring to a point where I knew it worked. Everything was fine then I did whatever I did to muck the system uop again and had to redo it all. LOL Just an idea. Pain in the butt version, but if it is all that works... Good luck boo
Rebelranger Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Yep you helped a bunch. Im just hesitant as to which drivers I should use since I have this one drive that I use for storage connected to my Si and not raid.... If I put it on the ULI it wont work. Uli already is configured as RAID.
RGone Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Rebelranger as far as my understanding of ANY device on a silicon controller >> IT MUST HAVE A DRIVER in windows. If not, any drive on SiL will not be recognized and since it is a single drive it would seem to be one of the drivers listed for drives NOT IN RAID that you linked into at the SiL site. In fact over the course of 3 or so years of using a SiL controller; I have seen the need of 'some' driver at every turn. You are going to have to feed windows some SiL driver. RGone... I think you missed something (no offense meant). I do have drivers but they are not working and causing errors. I did reinstall drivers and the drive was giving me an error. I checked the drive in another rig and it was fine. The problem again is not that I DONT have drivers it is that they are not working for some reason... boo_masters Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 RGone: He was wondering which driver to select from SiL's website to run a non-raid single drive array. However, it appears all non-RAID drivers are IDE-based only. Fortunately, I believe he is trying the ULi chip with two drives in RAID...should work out much nicer! I never really understood the importance of healthy drivers until I got a DFI board! boo
