Retroboy Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 As an European i have a hard time finding chipset coolers for my DFI board, but yesterday i made a simple mod and fitted the Extreme Spirit II from Thermaltake on my Lanparty Ut Sli-d. My system is a LANPARTY UT SLi-D and a XFX 7800 GTX card with Zalman VF 900-cu cooler and now the Extreme Spirit II as chipset cooler. Since the orginal clips and screws was a bit to high, i took away the orginal fitting material and made a new clip and modded it to fit the original holes and screws. I also changed the position of the fan, to the other side of the heatsink This is how it looks Cheers Retro....
Sorrento Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Nice... does it get enough ventilation to work properly?
watsonte Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Yeah what are your temps like?
WintersFury Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 The only problem I can see it is looks like you have the heatpipes heading down twards the bottom of the case. And afaik they have to have the heatsink base below the pipes, so you may have to flip the cooler around so the heatpipes point up. rebelangel Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 did the exact same thing except i didn't mod the mounting bracket. now there's isn't even a mm between the vid card and the Tt extreme spirit II. I also have 120mm fan pointed at the vid card and the cooler. temps in my sig. noise is rated at a max of 19 db. this thing costs about 15 euro's.
