dab Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Nice list. The lack of motherboard tray is going to be a pain for initial setup and testing though, so see if another case in your price range has it.. you'll appreciate it if you run into any problems. davidhammock200 Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Change CPU to Conroe E6600, mobo to DFI 975 & RAM to OCZ DDR2 800 & you have a true best BANG for the buck!
dab Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 The RAM he can swap easily for, the CPU and motherboard you suggest is another $400 which is about half again what his previous budget was Dave. Good suggestions, but considering the availability of E6600's (slim everywhere, pre-ordered out the YinYang) and the additional costs, he should be good with his current choices. Of course, you can find Core2 Duo E6300 and E6400's everywhere, they're cheaper than the E6600, and play real nice with the 975X Infinity. dab Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 This Aspire / Apevia X-Cruiser has the removable motherboard tray, it is within your budget I think. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811144151

p0tter Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 I would get AMD X2 - 3800 or a 4200 (why single, when dual is sooo inexpensive) GSkill 2HBHZ DDR500 (already overclocked)
