Guest Neezer Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 What do I need to do to configure my wireless internet with ubuntu?
cmay119 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 What version of Ubuntu are you using. I tried it last year with the "Hoary Hedgehog" version, and couldn't for the life of me get my Wireless NIC to be recognized or working. I finally bagged it and went back to XP. Guest Neezer Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I am not sure which one I am using. I have all of the latest updates until I lost my hard connection, and I am forced to use wireless now.
centy Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Well the first step would be to get the driver. Which wireless card is it exactly? Not all wireless adapters have native linux drivers so you may be forced to use a wrapper program and the windows driver. This is less than optimal but will allow you to use the adapter in Linux. Why don't you try to fix the original problem, wireless is a lot harder to set up. What happened to your NIC? Did it ever work in Ubuntu? Guest Neezer Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 I lost my hard connection because we are moving out of our apartment and we canceled our internet for august, but I still get wireless signals from adjacent apartments. I agreed to pay them a few bucks for the use of their connection for the rest of the month.

ReelFiles Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Not much info to be found on it, in conjunction with Ubuntu, my best recommendation would be to post in the Ubuntu forum, or googling the hell out of it.
