All Copper air cooling solution, anything better then the Tower112?

The thermalTake Tower112 is a 92mm fan based heatsink, all copper, fitting about any type of socket.

It's a type where you can blow the air out the back of your case instead of straight down at the cpu.

I was wonder if there' anything out there that's better.

One that fit's the socket a too....

The idea is to blow air straight out the back of the case as well, like water cooling.

I found it around $32 a few days ago off pricegrabber.

A friend got it around $40 off directron.

It got him an instant 2500mhz+ on his 939 board, biostar I think, no options on that mobo really.

Stock vcore and all that, san diego core I believe, 3.0+.

At 2500mhz+ (slightly more then 2500mhz, I can't remmember the exact speed) he hits 22c on load using the s&m fpu test and passes it.

He's using 2 generic 92mm fans.

Anyways my idea was to use 2x delta 92mm fans running around 7v.

One thing that slightly bothers me, well now 2 things.

1st of all, I woudl'nt mind a full copper heatsink like this one, but for a 120mm fans.

2nd, I replaced a radiator for a truck the other day, and I managed to get a close look a the honey comb design used for rads.

This is somewhat how the tt heatsink fin design is setup:

This sorta, is the more optimal, honeycomb design used in the upper end rads:

Blah...

Anyways, anyone know of a better heatsink out there then the tower112?

One that is full coppper, blows air out the back of the case instead of on the cpu.

Oh and mounts on the socket a (462 I believe).

I'd assume to be better, it would be a 120mm based heatsink, or is a 92mm one with a hony comb design.

??? :)

That's the thing though, none of the thermalright sinks will cut i.

For one, there's only 1 single sink in there product list that that does what I want and that's the ultra 120, and it's aluminum, and no mouting for the socket a.

Granted, if I had to, I would make myself a custom bracket out something...

Regardeless, the ultra 120 is all aluminum, and it's small.

Thanks though, however I've allready looked over those ;) (the ultra 120 was my 1st choice until I saw the tower112 in real life in front of me).

Let me pull up a few heatsiniks that I've been looking at, and tell you what sort of case I'm really using here.

The tower112, my 1st choice so far, because it's all copper.

http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/comboCo...024tower112.htm

Tuniq Tower 120.

http://www.tuniq.com.tw/Cooler%20Info/Tower-120.htm

Not really interested, it's aluminum.

Also would need a custom mouting bracket...

Scythe Katana CU.

http://www.scythe-eu.com/products/cpu/kata...u/katana-cu.php

Has mounting for my board, all copper.

However looks smaller thent he tower112, also it's tilted which is a nono gor me(I'd have to bend it striaght, or take apart the bae to adjust it if that is possible).

Only 92mm, like I said, tower112 looks better to me.

Scythe Infinity.

http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/cpu/024/scinf1000.html

Defently more intreesting then the tuniq tower 120 to me.

I have no idea how I would mount it however on my nfii :.

The idea is, if these bigger, all aluminum sinks can beat the performance of the tower112, then I'm all for it.

However, getting them to mount on my board seems like a huge hassle :(.

My case, I'm in a custom desktop case, one I'm still working on.

I carry my rig around, but I don't care how big or heavy a heatsink is.

I mean, I don't care if it has potential to crush parts, or break my mobo.

I'll zip tie the sucker to diffrent sides of my case if I have to.

The main idea is to blow air from the front of my case, and out the back.

Cooling extras like memory and such, I can add 120's to the top of my case, blowing straight down to my memory and what not.

I've allready started somewhat on this air flow thing.

On the side, where my slots and drives are right now, I have 120 panaflo in the front.

A 92mm in the back in the empty slots blowing out.

I get excellent hd temps this way, 20-22c on my wd1200jb and wd1600jb.

No active cooling on my vga and south bridge, and it still works out for now.

Anyways I gotta get for now, talk to my mom about something to do with my health :.

Stupidest thing..., got a tiny white dot on my gums..., I hope it goes away, otherwise it could be bad news :( (not exactly funny...).

Laters.

The big typhoon and tuniq tower are amoung the top rated among users all over the place.

Some of the Scythe pruducts too.

Now, there's the Scythe inf.

Probably there best I would guess.

The big typhoon is probably the top rated, face down type of heatsink.

I just wish they made those giant 120mm based vertical sinks in copper....

I still have time though before I save enough money.

I have $15 right now, I'll probably have $20 by the end of the day if I get off my lazy butt.

So I still have a few days before I can order anything anyways.

I'm leaning toward getting the tower112 right now though.

Mainly because it's copper, and that it has mounting for my mobo, stock.

The onyl bad thing I've heard of thermal take's are that they are flimsy.

The tower112 seemed slightly so, I mean the stamped logo on top and all...

Still...

I guess the mouning can be flimsy.

however I don't think I'm to concerned about that, it seems to com with enough brackets, I can allways re-enforce the bracket I use by placing another right under it(I think anyways).

As or tuniq vs thermal take heatsinks talk.

I guess they can differ when it comes to low fan speeds.

One can beat out the other by somewhat big amounts?, I dn, I dn...

From what I heard, they are so close to each other in performance, at high rpm speeds.

Some say the big typhoon, some say the tuniq tower...

I guess it depends on the type of application.

If you want that cooling on the parts around the cpu, with cpu's fan, I'd say the big typhoon.

If you want vertical, I'd say the tower... (personally I'd go wih the Scythe Infinity over the tower...)

Still...

I heard 92mm heatsinks are the past.

However, a 92mm all copper heatsink, compared to a 120mm mostly aluminum?

I dn, I guess that is the true ? right there.

Then again, those 120's don't have the mounting brackets for my mobo, just the am2's and 939's and such :.

that tower 112 is the same thing then my silet tower, except that my fines are in aluminium

i get descedn temp with my 3000+ ...

that copper tower might be more heavy then the silent tower ...

on Nf4 rig (orginal nf4, not expert or venus) the fan push the hot air in the top of the case,

and you cant mount it 90° like some do with the arctic freezer 64

i can put some pics to show you later tomm

If you're looking for an all copper HS, I'll have to agree with s10man69 about the Zalman 9500.

I'm running an X2 3800 oc'd to 2700 from 2000 and I idle at 25 load at 36 when rendering in 3ds Max. I'll have to change the temps in my sig since the summer heat is gone and my system has started to run a bit cooler again :)

While there are a few better HS designs out there, the 9500 is one of the quietest for it's level of performance. Frostytech's review has a long list of models to compare to here.

An added bonus for the Zalman is that even though it's all copper, it's still pretty light and it's height is easier to fit into a case, especially if you have side panel fans.

hope this helps,
