Marvell Lan port vs. Vitesse Lan Port

Recommended Posts

Could anyone explain the difference between my Marvell LAN Port and my Vitesse LAN Port?

Are there any advantages or disadvantages to one or the other?

Thank you very much for your help.

i use marvell lan,

but vitesse lan work the same way has the marvell, they use same cpu usage and go to same speed, (thats with nvidia active armor not installed)

its not recommend to use the active armor, it cauze packet corruption and lan drop

I guess my question would be, then, WHY would they put two completely unique LAN chipsets on the board.

I know variety is the spice of life but, this just seems pointless unless someone can point out a practical reason for this.

I'm questioning this purely out of curiosity not, criticism.

Pure speculation...but DFI might have a relationship with Marvell and is contractually bound to use their chipsets for x number of years or mobos. When nvidia had an integrated LAN chipset in the nf4, DFI just added both.

Am I right? Anyone?

Sounds reasonable to me :)
