darkerick Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 my system specs are: Abit IC7 P4 [email protected] ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128 MB ddr 1 GB Corsair PC3700 DDR(466MHz) My 3Dmark 2001 score is as low as 13000, this is really low. How can I make it faster. I have rage3D, and My current clock is (core clock)396.0 and Mem clock(297.00MHz). And on 3Dmark03 I get as low as 3000, what are your suggestion for anything: overlocking, video card cooling, etc?

darkerick Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 whats the best video card out there? Are the ATI chipsets the best?
Bosco Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 The two top cards are the 9800XT and the Nvidia 5900 Ultra but they may have released the 5950 not sure though. Everyone has their own opinons about what is better, you should read about each card yourself and find the one that suits your needs the best. bartman Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Just wondering is it worth the extra cash to buy extra gear for the performance gains when overclocking this card? I mean I've tried overclocking mine to abt 470/325 with stock cooling and the case side off but once the side is back on it's unstable and boots me outta Halo, or even Warcraft 3. I'm running at stock speeds rite now and it's doing alrite. My question is are the potential performance gains worth the extra $30-50 for the extra heatsinks/fans? I just wanted some good opinions from you guys
deltron_tsc Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Well it depends on what video card and what over-clocking abilities there are. For instance, I bought a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800 (non-pro) for $300 cdn, brand new in the box... I flashed it to the pro bios and I get the same performance as the pro! and I can overclock like the pro with additional heatsinks and cooling devices! Personally I think it's feasible to purchase a $300 card, add about $50 or so for cooling... in the end you STILL save that money from having to spend the extra $150'ish to get to the pro! But what it call comes down to is the over-clocking abilities of the card itself, then you'll be able to tell if it's worth it or not. darkerick Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 (edited) I have the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. Oh yeah, About screen resolution, whats the best 1024x768,etc? and should the monitor be running at the highest herts like mine can go up to 100, or should it be lower? is there a program that can tell me the temps of my video card? And What temps are good for video cards so I know when to stop overclocking? what is the goal for overclocking a video card?
