Wraithlok Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I don't get it I am using one stick of ram in the far orange slot, have 1 hdd setup and my vid cards (in sli), 1 DVD 1 CDROM plugged in and of course the floppy drive Now when I go and try to install windows it goes through the format / file copy process then resets... and goes right back into the windows setup screen as if nothing has happened. So to be on the safe side try the install again.. no joy I tried 3 different windows xp discs (some are recovery disks from dell for my laptop etc).. no joy any ideas? am I missing something? Reason why I am posting here not on a windows forum is that my friend had mentioned to me at one point he had a similar problem and it was his RAM and MOBO which were the root of it. Any help would as always be appreciated

lowboy Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Before trying to install OS have you run memtest #5 for at least 10+ passes each and passed no errors if not you need to.
EllisD Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Have you tried taking out the 2en video card? An initial install should be done bare bones like you have for the most part. Try taking out the 2nd vid card and see what happens.
