M4Y4 Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Hi guys, just upgrading my rig. Since I had the best experience with DFI products, I will stick with em again. When I tried to think which board would be better for me, I had 2 options - Infinity nF -M2 and Infinity Ultra II M2 the difference between these two are in SATA support (nF has first gen. SATA) and memory support. Also fan is a questionable topic. Funny is, that nF uses magnetic fan (am I right?) like nF4 Ultra(SLI)-D® and Ultra that noisy bastard from nF4(x) class. My question is, if anyone tried 800 DDR2 sticks in this board at 1:1 ratio. Will be any mod @ Ultra possible? (i dont know exactly, which chipset is used)
M4Y4 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 So, got my board installed, but here are some issues I have found. Im not able to run my Corsair sticks at 1T timing After saving this setting in BIOS, screen goes black after restart and beebs all the time, so clearing CMOS is the only way out of this mess. I also had to use black RAM slots, because white ones made my rig unstable - restarting it before Windows booting. Other thing is, that memory is set to DDR400, but when my rig is at boot up sequence, real timing is 733 MHz (or something around it) - why this, anyone who would be able to answer me on this question? Why there is an option in BIOS for 800 if it is unusable?

Why there is an option in BIOS for 800 if it is unusable? That's because of your CPU - the 11x multiplier underclocks the RAM by default. Use a 10x multi and the RAM speed will be right (just to see). Only 10x multi will run RAM at the exact speed for all dividers, some other multis like 12x will run correct speed for DDR800/533/400 but not for 667. Google AM2 divider table and you can see all multi's will run depending on divider.

Is there any Beta BIOS for my board? or something will be released?

You might be better off using a 10x multi with higher FSB, but that also depends on what frequency you want to run the CPU. I'm expecting my Ultra II-M2 to tomorrow, I havn't heard of any Bioses other than the 2 on dfi's web site.
M4Y4 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 My CPU runs fine and is SuperPI 32M stable @ 2.8GHz 1.55V, but RAM goes only at 2T These Corsair sticks are certified for 5-5-5-15-1T at 800, but I´m not able to run them at this timing. Guest Dice Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 What voltage are you using? Some need the extra juice >2.1v for DDR800 it seems. Just got my board this morning, priming atm.

Its juiced with 2V, I also tried more, even 2.2V, but without any change, this won´t be RAM bottleneck. I wasn´t able to run them at 1T@733MHz and very conservative timings. I run them now 800@940MHz 5-5-5-18-2T, but it should handle the same speed with 1T.
Guest Dice Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 lol my ram is doing DDR2 800-1T 2.1v but can't even do DDR930-2T using 2.2v. What's your CPU stepping? Mine is 0626 PAPW. Currently 5 hours into SP2004 at 2.8GHz 1.475v ram at DDR2 800-1T. If it passes it's 8 hours i'll try some higher volts on the CPU ...
