Rezag1000 Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 If I find another set of 2x512 that are stable at the same settings as the ones I currently have (not the ones in my sig), what are the odds that they will work in a 4x512 setup at 2T? probable, 50/50 , or "you'll be one lucky SoB if it works"
lowboy Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 If they are different chips then the second is most likely.
Rezag1000 Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 as far as I know, they are two completely different types of chips...

Mindflux Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I have little experience fooling around with ram but I did have my old rig running two different chips together in dual channel.... I would think that if they were running at all the same settings it should work.... But should and will are extremely different so I really have no idea. Trisk Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I'm pretty sure you won't be able to run 1t on it. probably better off with 2 kits of 1 gig. You'd have a better chance at getting 1t out of those.
Rezag1000 Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I know I wont be able to run 1T, I am fine with 2T. another 2x512 kit costs $100, while a 2x1GB costs $200......With DDR on its way out, I dont want to spend $200 on a whole new set of DDR... loc.o Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Ive tried Mushkin level II, OCZ VX and Teamgroup (bh5/CH5/UTT bh5), 2T obviously. In me case the mushkins wil not even boot with any of the other sets in. VX and Teamgoup do work together. Too bad the teamgroup actually is the worst set of them so no high mem clocks. Didnt use 2048 long this is about the only pic with settings i have.
