Gaming man, your gonna want AT least 1GB of RAM.

Dualcore or no? you could get a nice 3500+ Venice for 94 bucks.

Throw in a Ultra-D for 99.

Some DDR400 2x512MB for 90 bucks.

Video card something like a 7600GT or X800/X850?

160GB HDD for around 55.

Ultra-D is on sale for $100 at the 'egg.

Grab a new 3700+ for $104 also at newegg.

Look for a gig of ram, used power supply, and 7800GT/X1800XT on forums, oughta be able to cut some costs there no problem.

Then just look for a heatsink and case.

Probably won't be under $500, but you should be able to do it under $600. Hell, might even be able to get 2GB ram under that.

And yeah...whatever hard drive he needs to I suppose...

Edit:

Here's my post from that other thread...

Found the quote for you technodanvan, I like this budge setup too

Intel Pentium D 805 Smithfield - $97.00

ASUS P5ND2-SLI Socket T (LGA 775) NVIDIA nForce 4 SLI Intel Edition - $86.99

FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX500-A, 2.0 version (500 watt) - $89.99

Western Digital 80GB Drive - $42.99

evga 7600GT - $145.99 (after rebate)

G.Skill 2x512 DDR2 667 4-4-4-12 - $79.99

Total price = $542.95 (before shipping and after mail in rebate)

I tried really hard to cram 2 GB in there, but i couldn't do it...and aftermarket heatsink woulda been nice too. Guess I coulda gone for a subpar PSU, but I feel that this would overclock fairly well even on this board.

And yeah, its being built on my desk so who needs a case? :)

Spose that last $7 could get me a case somewhere though.

I would swap the 7600GT w/ this [sAPPHIRE 100106SR-RD Radeon X850XT

Or spend an extra $150-200 and get a AMD X2 setup.
