young-joseph Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 (edited) Right now I'm running an Vantec Aerflow and I'm pretty happy with it. http://www.thetechlounge.com/review.php?RE...vantec_aeroflow Cools well and not super super loud. I'm just wondering how much cooler an slk-900 would run with the same fan that's on my Aeroflow. My temps are in my sig. Thanks for any input young-joe Edited October 24, 2003 by young-joseph
kobalt Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 your temps are ideal ,why would you change that. Put your money on something else is my advice
young-joseph Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 Yeah, guess you have a point. But you know how it is, always looking for a way to drop your temps as much as possible. I need to work on the coolling inside my case. The second I put the side of my case on my temps jump 10C. my 9800 puts of sooo much more heat than my last card. LobbDogg Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 I would suggest staying with the Vantec, its a good HSF, I have one too. Just make sure you have intake fans, and exhaust as well.

Wow, that's a huge increase and definitely should NOT be happening. My guess would be you don't have proper air flow in your case. In an ideal system, temps should DROP when a side is put on, not the other way around. Like lobbdogg said, make sure you have enough intake and exhaust fans. You want to make sure air is pushed through your case efficiently. Do you have a side fan or two? Getting one would be wise. Regardless, makes sure you have at least two fans in the front of your case bring air in, and at least one in the back pulling air out, along with your psu. Does your 9800 have a fan on the heatsink? If it's really generating a lot of heat, I would suggest putting a fan on it if it doesn't have one, and maybe getting one of those slot coolers to draw the heat out of the case before it reaches other components. young-joseph Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 I know it shouldnt being raising the temps that bad when I put the side on, and yes I do have an intake fan in front and an exhaust fan in back. Im going to mod the case so I can put a fan in the top of the case and one on the side. Im also putting a pci slot fan right under my 9800.
