Shabadu Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 ive heard many good things about the thermalright heatsinks (SLK-800, SLK-900, etc.) but im not sure if there's a fan out there that will be as quiet as my stock amd cooler. i wish i could measuere the dBA of my case fan, but i assume its pretty good compared to most TT setups, considering my TT volcano 7 was no less than a jet-engine. so im thinking the SLK-900 for my A7N8X-DX board (dunno that it fits) but have not made up my mind. any idea's for a good heatsink & fan? AYoKoNA Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 I have an SP-94 with a LOUD 92mm delta. If you want less noise just check the rpms on the fan. The higher rpms the louder its going to be and more cfms u will pull off of it.
kobalt Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 (edited) Stock AMD are quiet cause they do nothing for cooling, man! i'd like to see your temps, if you claim 2.3Ghz with a STOCK cooler at 1.75volt that cooler must be red hot Edited October 24, 2003 by kobalt
ClayMeow Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 i was asking myself the same question....how can i get a quiet fan but still keep things cool. The quietest i found with a decent CFM (that i had written down at least) was the Evercool CUD-725 HSF. It's fan is 4200rpm, pushes 42.08cfm and only produces 32dbA. Not sure if you can get the fan separate, but I saw the HSF for $18. I wound up going with the volcano 7 because it pushes a nice 53cfm's at 5000rpm with a 39dbA, which isn't too bad. (For some reason, the volcano 7+ is stated to push 49cfms at 6000rpm with a 47dbA...why anyone would go with this over the 7 is beyond me). The SLK-900 can hold a 92mm fan, so try looking at 92mm case fans. 92mm fans should be quieter and push more air at same rpms. exeter_acres Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 I am running an SLK-800a with a Vantec Stealth 92mm fan...(yes..it fits fine even though Thermalright says it won't ) sure I could get a little (1 or 2 degrees) better cooling when I had the Tt smartfan (80mm) on there...but it is very quiet now and still with good temps
