huhmz Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Hey, I just got my first DFI-board after I experienced some compatability issues with my old MSI K8N Neo2-FX and Creative Soundblaster Audigy. The funny thing is I never had any problems with my old Opty 146, but when I changed for a 165 (dualcore) this really wierd problem started occuring. When I was using Ventrilo (as I do almost all the time) the entire network-part would stop working after about 30-60mins playing games or whatever. All connections were lost, even local ones (my admin interface to my ftp server on the same machine). When I tried running ipconfig I would get a message saying it cannot be initialized. When I rebooted after this I would always get a bsod just when Windows finished shutting down. What I've tried to solve this includes changing PSU, motherboard (both another MSI board and now this DFI board), without any changes. As soon as I remove the sound card everything works like a charm. I had read that the MSI board had known compatibility issues with older Audigy and Audigy2 cards, but didn't see anything about it with DFI boards. So I have two questions: Is this a known problem for DFI/Nforce3-motherboards? Is there a way to get past it? If there isn't, I'm looking at buying a Audigy 4 SE. Can I feel confident the same problem won't turn up with that? Any help is much appreciated! [edit] Oh, and I've tried it at stock speeds aswell. Branjo Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Welcome to the street huhmz, Just one thing comes to mind. Have you disabled the onboard sound in your BIOS ? maybe there is a conflict between the two. You could also try using a slightly older chipset driver. The latest one from Nvidia has a few bugs and has given alot of people BSOD. Although I dont have the exact model NF3 as you maybe you should try the Nvidia 5.10 drivers instead of the 5.11. There is also a remix driver pack that are a package made up of new and old drivers for your chipset that have proved stable for most NF3 users. They can be found at guru3d.com. I find the 5.10 version very stable for my setup. Iit wont be long until these guys have found your problem trust me this place is an invaluable source of info for DFI users. Good luck bro
