jorgerod Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I have my X2 4600 currently OCed to 2.6, I have tried to take it to 2.8 but it seems my memory can't take it since as soon as the BIOS clears before the OS boots the machine reboots itself. I can sustain 2.7 but I don't know if using odd numbers actually decreases performance like in the old PII and PIII where a a cpu with 120Mhz vs a 133mhz had a serious memory hit due to the multiplier. Is anyone running 2.7 and how good is your system ruuning? Jorge
Thraxz Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 CPU MHz are king with these new chips. Run the 2.7.

Jorge Sorry building a new sig, but i have a 4600+ clocked it to 2.8 see here: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=108788 on this speed it tends to be stable when using the machine for surfing and non graphically demanding use. EdLSmith Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Impressive is a stable OC. It is not considered stable on the street until you can complete minimum of 8 hours Dual Prime95 on a dual core processor. Look at the OCDB. No offense, but that expression and especially the word "tends" sounds very funny... you mean your system has some inclination toward stability, but usually it crashes. Great!
