troyerml Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I have a Belkin Nostromo USB Speedpad S2 that I am using in concert with a Wacom Pin Tablet. I have had no problems with this combination on 3 other systems: Dell Prescision 360 and 2 Dell XPS Systems What is so frustrating about it is that it works for a random period of time, then the wheel portion of the speed pad stops working until the unit is unplugged and replugged back in to the USB port. I have tried it with and without the Tablet and it behaves the same. It might be related to some internal timing issue, it seems to happen more quickly if you move the wheel in and out quickly, but that could be coincidence THank you
Sorrento Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Did you connect another USB device by any chance when this problem occurs? My game pad stops working completely (The Claw) when I install new hardware (USB)... and disconnect/reconnect fix the problem... but never has happened on its own. Have you tried using a diferent USB connector?
HighLife Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 This same thing happened to my USB mouse. I was playing Lineage 2, and it just suddenly dropped for no reason. I removed it and the drivers, turned off my machine, reistalled the drivers and plugged in the mouse. Hasnt done it since. troyerml Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 It does it randomly every 30 secs to 30 mins, no apparent pattern. However it will not drop out unless it is being used. To get it working again, all you have to do is unplug it and plug it back in. Same port or different port, doesn't matter. I currently have it plugged into the front USB ports, it makes it much easier to unplug/plug. I have also seen the problem where USB mouse will stop working, and the problem doesn't repeat. This problem is continual and repeatable, except for the time it takes to happen. If you use the wheel on the Speed Pad, it will drop out. The rest of the Speed Pad functions properly, it is only the wheel potion that stopos functioning.
Sorrento Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Hmm, it could be the integrity of the gamepad cable thats bad... I would make sure its in perfect condition, as in test it again in another system just to be sure. You could try updating the drivers and software. Try using the newest official BIOS as well, but it will mess your overclock, specially on the ram settings. If this is not a physical problem, as in cable being in perfect shape and all, then it would be related to something around software or the BIOS in your machine. You could try the "proper clear CMOS" procedure and see if that makes a diference. Good luck
red930 Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Try this! Use a powered USB hub to connect all the hardware. This has resolved the disconnect issue on differing hardware for many users. It doesn't seem to be one manufacturer. I've had it on Dell, Gateway, HP, IBM, Sony and many others.
