Foo.Barr Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 DFI LanParty NF4 SLI DR mobo (Flashed with latest Bios last night) AMD 3700+ SanDiago Core 4X512Mb Corsiar PC3200 400MHz 10 month differnece in buying DIMMs) Ok here's the problem, with either of the pairs of mem on the dual chanell slots (2 & 4) the system boots fine and holds 1T 2.5 3 3 7 and has done for near a year. Got my 2nd pair of bonded corsair last night and set my mobo to 2T as recommended for running 4 sticks slackened all my timings off to 2T, 3, 6, 6, 8 shut down, inserted mem into slots 1 & 3 powered up.... BEEP........BEEP........BEEP...... and 3 POST lED's showing shutdown tested the mem in know working pc, 1 stick at a time and all ok. Much mucking about with sticks in DIMM's and can get it to boot but it hangs at the mem test when loading bios, get as far as loading the "Press Del to enter Setup" part but no further. (Only with the DIMMs in Slot1, new stick, Slot 2 old stick, Slot 3 new stick, Slot 4 old stick) Downloaded and flashed the bios to latest version rebooted, same issue. Take the DIMMS out of slots 1 & 3 and the system boots fine, (will work like that with either pairs) Have checked the mobo for jumper settings there is 1 jumper Jp15 (i think) that can add a potential 4V to the slots but once the jumper is moved to 2, 3 you have to go into BIOS to enable any higher voltages. Have reset the CMOS after flashing BIOS (boots fine with new BIOS to. Will try the 24 hour CMOS reset as detailed in the guide tonight) system boots fine with only 1 stick (tested all 4) in slot 1 booting into Single channel mode PSU has been tested in another Rig (Asus AN78X-E Delux AMD 2500XP Mobile) and ok. Any suggestions or pointing out the glaring obvious that im missing would be very much appreciated.

Foo.Barr Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Ah many thanks, had not thought of setting a different voltage. :-) all 4 DIMM's are the XMS3200 Pro Cas2 but 1 pair is V2.3 and the 2nd pair is v5.2 How much would the different versions affect the system ? smolt Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 They have different chips.. i'm sure of this... Well I read xms 3200 pro were do you see 3200c2? But you being right and his listing wrong. hes got big problems the two different sticks require 2 different memory volts XMS-PC3000C2 Rev2.1 (2-3-3-6-1T) --chip--> should Winbond BH-6 might have a problem running cas 3 and likes 3+ volts XMS-PC3200C2 Rev5.1/6.1 (2-3-3-6-1T) --chip--> Mosel Vitelic 5ns need to be set at cas 2.5 and need 2.8 volts max So i would try 2.8volts cas 2.5-3-3-8 T2

Many thanks again :-)
