eclipse31satx Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 just posted this in another section of this forum but i think i should have posted it here. Hi, i just built a new system. every now and then my system will just lock up. just a few min ago i was playing an mp3 and all of a sudden my monitor went all goofy (out) with lines going up and down - looked like a yellow, white, red and green pin stripe suit. out of my speakers was a vibrating noise. the sound was like what a cd makes when it gets stuck. the other day i was just surfing the web and it locked up. nothing will bring the system back unless i reboot. it doesnt happen often but when it does its irritating. other than this flaw this system rocks. any help would be appreciated. below is my system. DFI LanPary UT NF4 SLI DR motherboard AMD 3500+ 2 GB memory ( 2 x 1GB sticks) 2 x XFX geforce 6800 xtreme linked by SLI 19" Viewsonic LCD monitor 36GB sata 10k rpm HD as boot drive 2 x seagate 160 GB HD with 3 partitions that are striped using RAID 0. Win XP SP2 gino
thefabe Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 This can be caused by several different things. 1 is and I don't see that you have your video card overclocked, or it is not listed but haveing your gpu's clocked to high or your memory can cause this. 2. Once again more information is needed. If you are using a pci sound card and it is shareing the IRQ with a video card this can cause it.Since your system is new did you run the recommended stability tests? memtest? located in your bios. This will check to make sure your memory isn't creating any errors. even at stock speeds this can happen also every now and then a bad stick of ram. Did you follow the initial buid guide? Located beneath my sig?Or it could be as simple as a bad connection with vga or dvi cable. I also don't see what PSU you are using listed in your sig. with SLI you need to make sure your powered up right. Are all four connections plugged in on your motherboard? 24 pin 4 pin Molex and floppy. As seen in the initial buid guide. Please list your Power supply and what memory you are running as well as the bios version and any overclocks. this will help others with helping you.fabe
