nhelman Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 It looks like the memory recommendation I found through the stickies hasn't been updated in a while. I haven't ordered my components yet, although the theoretical system in my sig is what I'm planning to get. I'd like to shove the full 4G into the box, but there are only two or three recommended 1G sticks listed in the recommendations. Has this changed? Can I get a more current recommendation for 1G RAM sticks (DDR 400)? Thanks, Neal

trexmgd Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Great post, I was just here searching for the same info. I'm putting together a second system See Link and I'm not even looking to overclock. I just want something stable for the kiddies. I was thinking of just throwing in 1 GB of ram (2x512) as cheap as these sets are with everyone going to 2+GBs. Any current suggestions? Or should I just go with the flow and get 2GB?
nhelman Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 OCZ pc4000 EB or xtc, gskill pc4000 hz would be your best bet. PC4000, and I don't necessarily have to oc the memory, right? I'm not completely new at building systems, but it's been a long time, and I never got into tweaking any kind of settings.
Sharp Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Hello, That's right, you do not have to run PC4000 at 250Mhz.
trexmgd Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Does anyone have an opinion on These 2x512MB Ballistix? They are $77 AR w/free shipping and that sounds darn good to me. However, I cannot find mention of these exact sticks on the site. Other Crucial Ballistix are listed, but not this specific pair.
