Sharp Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Hello, Sometimes the memory controller on the CPUs can behave differently. Try adjusting the memory timings, increase the timings. Or is it not booting? tried 1 stick at a time in the orange slot. Maybe switch to the yellow slot.
paladinchan Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 it boots..but when i play any game windows crashes within 5 min's i have them in my Orange slots with 3-4-4-10 2.71V 1T Timing in yellow slots it wont post.... but my Geil DDR400 512 DC value ram works..but its horible to play BF2 with only 512MB of mem i have latest drivers and bios updates

OmniStrata Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Corsair XMS Plat RAM normally has a 2-3-3-6 timings but due to some ram controller problems, I can ONLY get my cas down to 2.5. It's a known fact [or rather not as well known... gah*] that Corsair RAM doesn't like AMD cpus that well, which is probably why you'll never get advertised latencys on their 'super fast' ram. I'm going to replace my PC3200 RAM with some nice Overclocker style PC4000 RAM from OCZ. They're worshipped as RAM makers and they don't have issues with AMD chips. Stupid Corsair has become Intel's BigITCHES... And I liked them for RAM too...
ReelFiles Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I had similar problems with mine, and the Corsair support forum is sh!t. Like I said, those sticks are tested by Corsair using 2T and 2.8v (even though they don't advertise the 2T part. Are you sure they are supposed to run @ CAS 2, not 2.5? Are you running them on a divider? Memory timings and speed mean diddly squat on A64. You'd be better off on a 180 divider if you are overclocking that CPU to 2.8GHz. Just saw you upgraded the CPU from the one in your sig, you should update that, and is that new CPU OCed as well?
CapnKirk Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Just got this mem the other day and it got my 3800 X2 clocked at 2800mhz compared to the 2500mhz with the Corsair XMS memory. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227225 Actually ran a bit over spec with zero problems. Nice stuff.

ReelFiles Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 What are your advanced DRAM settings? I hope you got them off AUTO. Run them 1:1 instead of 5/4 if your CPu is running stock. Like I, and many more, said forget about the RAM speed, timings need to be stable not fast, since the memory controller is on the CPU it barely matters how fast the RAM runs.
