Peebee Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Can anyone tell me what the correct checksum I should be getting when flashing my LanpartyUT nF4 SLI-DR Expert board, with the 2006/04/06 (NF4ED406.BIN) BIOS. I'm sure that I saw the figure on the DFI site, but now can't seem to find it. (I'm getting '2000H' at the mo'. Many thanks. Sharp Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Hello, Is it saying checksum error or showing any kind or error?
Peebee Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 No, just 'CHECKSUM=2000H' during flashing with 'AWDFLASH.EXE' and 'NF4ED406.BIN' on a bootable floppy. My problem is that I can't get 'XP PRO Setup' to load, because of 'STOP:' errors.(Brand-new installation). I've run a few of the motherboard tests on 'UBCD', and they seem to agree that my 'IRQ table' is faulty.(My 'Floppy Drive B' is being accessed the whole time that Windows is 'loading files' during Setup. I'm just trying to find out if my BIOS upgrade went OK, or if my copy could be corrupted. Many thanks.
Sharp Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 After any flash you must clear the CMOS for a few mins. (5/10mins). Then if you have never tested the memory, run memtest for at least 3 hours. If you get any errors instantly try 1 stick at a time. Remember to use the orange slots.
Peebee Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I tried MEMTEST as you suggested, with the following (strange?) results. Both sticks passed tests 1 to 8 fine, when located in DDR slot 2 (orange), but neither would even POST when located in DDR slot 4 (orange). Is this normal, as the manual seems a bit contradictory as to which slots to use for single sticks? When trying both sticks together in dual-channel mode (again orange slots), out of the 5 runs that I tried, 2 just froze the PC when running Test #8, 1 had the bottom half of the screen scrolling in red, with 97.5MB of continuous errors (Test #8). The last 2 where the oddest, as 1 froze with the on-screen info overlaid with 15mm x 7mm white oblongs, while the last had 40 10mm vertical blue bars on a black background, with no sign of any text at all! (again during Test #8). Am I right in thinking that this could have something to do with my graphics card? Anyway, I can't wait to get your opinion on the above. Thanks again for your time and interest. PS - Should I try upping the DRAM voltage? It's set at the 'Optimum default' value of 2.66v at the mo', but I've tried 2.69v without result.
Peebee Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I can't understand this, but your icon system seems to indicate that you are waiting on a reply from me,yet I really could do with an answer to my last posting. The latest thing I can say about my problem, is that both sticks of my RAM are failing, singularly, in orange slot DDR2, on test #5 and won't even post in slot DDR4. I've put in a RMA request a couple of days ago, but still haven't heard from them. Is this normal? Thanks again for your time. ganders75 Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Mushkin forums are down at the moment - but the link you are after for your memory settings is here I've got it printed out at home somewhere, so i'll write back with some good stock settings when i get home and check it out... Are you just running stock (ie 200Mhz) - or are you overclocked for your memory (250Mhz)?
ganders75 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Forgot to add before: don't worry - single sticks should be run in the orange slot furthest from CPU. Non-post in other slots is normal... The following settings are for running DDR400 - which is downclocking your RAM - but should get you stable and pass MemTest... Think these are in BIOS order - but i can't actually remember - try em out and post back: DRAM Freq: 200 CPC:Enable Tcl: 2.5 Trcd: 3 Tras: 8 Trp: 3 Trc: 7 Trfc: 14 Trrd: 2 Twr: 2 Twtr: 1 Trwt: 2 Tref: Auto Twcl: 1 Bank Int: Enable DQS Skew Ctrl: Auto DQS Skew Value: 0 DRAM Drive Str: Auto DRAM Data Drive Str: Auto Max Async Lat: 7.0ns (for high HTT and mem divider, set 8.0ns) DRAM Response Time: Normal Read Preamble: 5.0ns Idle Cycle Limit: 0 Dynamic Counter: Enable R/W Queue Bypass: 16x Bypass Max: 7x 32 Byte Gran: Disable (4 burst)
