Slow boot

Recommended Posts

I've posted something similar to this before, but this is different. This system has always taken its time to boot, but lately after I hit the power switch and it goes through the POST, my system will sit there for up to about 40 seconds before the HD starts loading windows. I've done the usual troubleshooting: emptied out the CD drives, checked the voltages and temps, lowered my overclock, tested my overclock using Prime (dual instances) for over 6 hours at both the old overclock and a reduced clock. All have still showed the same symptoms...

What do you think? Bad power regulator maybe? I do have active cooling on the board, as I know it's important with water cooling.

My raptor was doing the same thing (not as long though, you mean it hangs after the DMI pool data and what not right?) and I cleaned out my hard drive with SystemMechanic (or an equivalent registry/tempfile cleaner) and it lessened the time.

Have you tried formatting?
