SLI problem

Recommended Posts

Im having a problem getting my 2 eVGA 7900 GT cards running in SLI. In my device manager it sees them both though. I did everything that the DFI and the eVGA manuals have said to do. Can anyone help me please? Thanks.

Did you install the video drivers after setting the cards in SLI mode in the Genie Bios...?

If you did in fact follow all the proper steps and changed the Bios setting then installed drivers restarted, enabled SLI, restarted again as prompted then you might want to look into updating you bios to 04/06, there were a lot of issues with the 12/7 Bios and SLI

Okay thanks. How do I update the BIOS? I wont be able to if it requires my floppy drive cause for some reason my floppy drives wont work on this computer. Ive seen that some people have problems once they update their BIOS. Is there any chance that Ill have a problem?

I had a pair of BFG7800GTX cards in a MSI Diamond that refused to do the SLi boggy after running faultlessly for nearly 8 months - a BIOS reset finally fixed the problem. Hope that is helpful for you. Another BIOS to try is the 11/02... older but it was reasonably solid for SLi (12/07 was hopeless - "out of sync" errors and blank screens were common).

as far as problems with updating a bios, more than likely it wont hurt you as much as it may help you, If you rig is stable with a certain bios and certain driver than no change is needed, but, in your case a bios may help. To update not using a floppy, you can create a bootable disk (CD) do a search for Tmods Bios CD...

The only setting that needs to be changed in the BIOS is the 8-4-NC-8 and the SLI amperture broadcast to enabled. You say the device manager sees both cards......what happens when you go into the nvidia control panel? Does it even give you the option to choose SLI? Does you have the 8 pin and the 4 pin floppy connected? Becareful if you update the BIOS!!!! It really shouldn't be necessary. All three of the BIOS's will work with SLI......it may be debatable which one is best though....good luck.

Make sure that your boot to safe mode to uninstall the drivers, reinstall, and the 1st reboot after the driver install. Doing this was what finally got my system to SLI (vs. just see two video cards). Has to do with loaded dlls and with a-virus and firewall programs blocking the video driver's sensing of the board the 1st time.
