Guest dnsx Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 well after playing at a lanparty that my friend hosted, i miss my old crt monitor that supported 120hz on 640x480 resolution cs. Right now i am using an LCD and its decent for gaming but i want better because of the lack of table room to buy back a crt. Anyways does anyone know of an LCD that supports 100hz in either 640x480, or 800x600 resolution? or higher even?
Angry_Games Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...t=Viewsonic+LCD I've got two of them on the desktop, and my best bro who lives 2 hours away followed my (and this thread's!) advice and bought two also...and holy smacks are they fantastic gaming monitors. LCD's wont do those low resolutions. LCD's only look good in their native resolution (1280x1024 for 4:3 non-widescreens usually, 1440x900 in 19" widescreen, 1650x1080 I think for 21" Widescreen, etc) Also forget the Hz on a true DVI LCD since Hz is legacy analog...DVI is digital and relies on the ms response time. why would you want such low resolution anyway if I may ask? Guest dnsx Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 oo its because 800x600 is the resolution i play on for counter-strike which is the main game i play and it looks pretty good
Guest dnsx Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 so lcds only rely on response time? thats odd because on some lcds ive seen go over 75hz and look great. for example this LCD can go up to 85hz (so i've heard) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16824116355 and also i have a Rosewill R910p just in case you were wondering
yfital Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 yes, lcd depends on Responce time, Hz means nothing with them... so dont bother counting in that factor... but you'll have some hard time with that of a low res... to be honest, you better stick with crt for such low resolutions, cause in an lcd, it will probably be a bit blurry. (like AA, but a bit more... of a blur)
Guest dnsx Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 ive been playing on 800x600 for over half a year now and i dont have any problems with it.
Angry_Games Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 ive been playing on 800x600 for over half a year now and i dont have any problems with it. as i already told you, LCD's don't look good in anything but their native resolution if you have an LCD then you'd already know this if you only have a CRT, then you wouldn't know this unless you've sat down in front of an LCD and tried to use it at a resolution other than it's native resolution (mostly 1280x1024) games and text and everything just looks crappy at anything but the LCD's native resolution maybe instead of playing CS @ 800x600 you should try playing it at a higher resolution since everyone in this forum and everyone on the internet will guarantee that CS looks a lot better in 1024x768 and especially 1280x1024 you won't find a single person other htan yourself who would play CS in 800x600 and especially if they had an LCD as for Hz, I thought I had already explained that to you...if you use an analog connection then the Hz is a factor but LCD's go by ms response, which is why you get one that is DVI capable so you don't have to worry about that Hz crap anymore like you do on CRT's
ebdoradz Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 H_G is right, LCD dont look good if they aren't in their natie resolution you better lower the setting and play in 1280*1024 then play in 800*600 i own 2 samsung syncmaster 940B-HAS 8ms (1 for me and 1 for my g/f) and those screen are amazing, with a simple touch i can change from games setting to movies setting customs settings ... yfital Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 ahh... as for him playing @ 800X600... as a former pro in CS, its not something you can just switch, if hes a pro/old player, he wont change hes res, its not even related to FPS, its just the way the FOV, mouse sens and corsair moves in each res... most pro plays @ 800X600 (at least in the older versions), i dont think anyone serious plays above 1024... ebdoradz Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 start playing cs at beta 7 and since then ive always crank up my resolution bgan at 800*600, then when i got my 17'' crt put it a 1024*768 and then 19'' lcd 1280*1024 whne you change resolution its not an easy task but within 5-6 hours of playing you can play like you were with your old resolution
yfital Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 naa, not really, im from 7 or so as well, once i set a res, i couldnt change it for a very long time, very very long time... but again, it depends how serious you are in the game... as i said, i was pro in my country, that meant 10-12 hours a day only training with my clan... not everyone are that loco
Guest dnsx Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 thanks yfital for explaining that because its true, it really is hard for me to switch. i changed my resolution to 1280x1024 about 5 minutes ago and it looks sharper but my crosshair is huge and my sprays are off but im gonna try it for a bit. also, have u played in cal or played in a pro team? i was in TEC a while back
