noahsark1126 Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I want to get water cooling for my computer. I am really sick and tired of it sounding like a freakin airplane turbine. I've been reading around and I'm pretty much convinced that Danger Den is the way to go. I have some money, but it's far from unlimited, so I'm looking for a quality setup without an extravagant price. So basically, what do I need? I want to cool my CPU and video card with water (and possibily my NF4 chipset as well, is this a good idea?). So I know I need a CPU block, GPU block, pump, radiator, tubing, and some fans. Is there anything else? And of those categories, what are the best choices to buy? I only have a single GPU at the moment so right now I will only need one GPU block, but eventually I will upgrade to SLI so I think the Low-Profile MAZE4 GPU block is my best option for that. miggs78 Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 hey noahsark1126, first of all we know ur budget is limited, but we need to know how much r u willing to spend (so we can come and rob you lol, j/k) You can get something descent for about $300-350 including the gpu blocks. secondly ur more or less on the right track, you just need some clamps, both T and Y. A fillport for filling in the fluid. Thats it I believe. What I would suggest is: CPU BLock and Pump, I would suggest this one, since both the block and pump are good, and its an awesome price: http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?...0&cat=69&page=1 Rad - depends on ur case. I would suggest Black Ice Pro I or II. Tubing: to tell u the truth, I am still deciding myself, since I am going to be going for water cooling myself. The Koosah's are just too expensive. I'll stick with the maze4's. I'll get one of the low-profile ones for now, and if i get a second card I'll buy another. I have some BGA ramsinks for the vid card and I can rig a silent fan to blow on them. As for the rad, the Black Ice does seem like a good choice. You're right, it is definetely not the Zalman's that are making the noise. That's part of the reason I got them - good performance with low noise (and they do work great for me). It's really my 3x120mm case fans and the NF4 fan that make the noise. I have a fan controller, which has decreased the noise somewhat, but it's still loud enough to be annoying and to stop me from sleeping. I just want the quiet of water. I'll probably take the Zalman's and put them in my old Athlon XP (which is currently on stock cooling -- yuck). There is a link to my case earlier in the post. I just liked the look of it. SeanDude05 Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Most of us recommend against water cooling the chipset. It's a hassle for not much gained. It can operate up to 90 degrees safely. Just throw an Evercool VC-RE on there or the Zalman Iceberq/Titan Equivalent. Dangerden.com has a good deal on the TDX CPU waterblock+ the DD-D5 pump. $108 Maze4 GPUs are a good cooler. I'd suggest the StealthGT line of radiators, I've had good results with a .240 1/2" or 7/8" tubing is the best. T-Line, fillport, and some MCT-40/5 and you should be set. If you really want something better, get this one, its spins at 5k which is slower, and cools much better. This evercool is amazing, and the best part is it doesn't void ur board warranty, as long as you have the old chipset fan. Thats my suggestions, yes I'm going to get the maze4 gpu block myself. I just installed my water cooling rig today and I love the reservoir, it made the bleeding/filling process extremely easy. The cylindrical ones from Danger Den aren't even that big. SanguineI Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Both are meant for two fans. The only difference is that the x-flow is a single pass design and the other one is a two pass design. I've heard people debate as to which is better to no avail. I guess the two pass is a little more restrictive but I honestly don't think it makes a huge difference as long as you are using a good pump. I personally use the x-flow stealth gts 240 and find it to be a great radiator. Just remember, DON'T cheap out on your pump, its extremely important. I'd highly recommend going for the DD-D5 if you're going with danger den. A good tip I almost missed is that if you plan on getting the TDX waterblock and the DD-D5, you can buy them in a bundle under their "mini kits" category and you end up saving like 20 or 25 bucks.
