snapilica2003 Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I'm in the process of buying a new kit of 2GB memory from TeamGroup more specificaly: Xtreem Poseidon TXDR2048M400HC2DC I have the sistem shown in the sig... so my question is... is there anything i should know about BIOS settings for these sticks? What are the advanced settings these sticks work at stock speed? (i will try OC later)
cybervicke Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 maybe u should have a look at some OCZ kits or G.Skill. Then u wont regret. Anyways i dont know anything about Xtreem Poseidon TXDR2048M400HC2DC
kewlceo Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I'm with cybervicke: G.SKILL and OCZ are most often used, so you have more people to compare notes with. Mushkin is also good.
wevsspot Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 The Mushkin PC4000 Redlines (pricey though) The OCZ PC4000 Gold XT or my personal recommendation The G.Skill PC4000 Extreme HZ's I've been running the G.Skills since about last November and they rock. And you can't beat the price (at least here stateside).
snapilica2003 Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I've read some reviews and they all say good words about them.... the chips are Infineon BE5 Here is an article for those who want to look into them: http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticl...590&articID=397 The reason is they give a great bang for bucks... they are new to the market and are very well placed as performance levels. p.s. Sorry about my Enligh... it's not my native language
wevsspot Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Well, I usually respect the reviews at MS's, so they apparently are giving them the green light. Can't hurt to try. Just make take a little longer for you to find the appropriate BIOS and memory timings for them, but what the heck. The same can be said for about any memory on a DFI board. Luck. likewhoa Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 munskin redline pc4000 http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/memory_detail.asp?ID=273 or the Gskill Extreme Series http://www.gskill.com/en/f1-4000usu2-hz.html If you don't mind spending a little more say "$60" then go munskin redline
snapilica2003 Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 As the article sais: "..I remember last fall when I reviewed G.Skill memory when that company was a relative unknown, and I’m getting similar good feelings from this company; that they are continuing a trend of Taiwanese manufacturers to bring forth excellent products at excellent prices..." so what the heck... maybee they'll become the new trend... and the price is not that bad (here in Romania they go for 200$US+taxes... and as a comparison the Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2PT go for 240-260$US+taxes) Apparently down over at the TeamGroup forums there are lots of guys with DFI boards and most of them don't have any issues. There are a few tho who experience problems running them in dual channel mode (they only boot on slots 1+2 or 3+4).. but it can be fix with BIOS updates... apparently "-1" versions work for these ones. I hope mine will work tho... And another question?.... How good are BE5 chips compared with others (UCCC, TCCD, TSOP, BH-5, CH-5 etc).... all i know is that they are build for low latencies and not for high frequencies. p0tter Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 A couple proven 2GB kits Gskill 2GBHZ DDR500 OCZ 2GB GoldXTC DDR500 Check out the OCDB
wevsspot Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 But we have to be cognizant of the fact this user is in Romania. That's a perfect reason locations are very important. What is readily (and often times inexpensive) here stateside is often not available or extremely expensive in other countries. I'd stick by the Mad Shrimps review and give it a try. The worse that can happen is you won't be satisfied and you can always return or exchange it right?
snapilica2003 Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Hehe... the return or "x day money back gurantee" policy has not been "invented" here in Romania.... U buy it.. .you own it.... only RMA if smtg is wrong... And the bad thing is... International guarantee certificates do not apply here.... (tho they do say the entire EU). The entushiast market here is only at it's first steps... people here are still relying on 500$ computers with Sempron or Celeron processors.... hope this will change in the future... Anyways... hopefully i'll get the RAM tomorow and i'll keep you updated on speed and settings if you want.
