Gipse Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Hi, I think it is the chipset-cooler. Try to clean it with compressed air or replace it with the Evercool. Gipse

RadiQal Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Yeah, sounds like ur chipset cooler... look further on this forum for replacements
tasr Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Go into the BIOS, under PC Health Status and set the: “NB Fan Fully On…” > 40ºC This will make it spin faster and sometime will quite it. If not raise the temp to 55ºC, just remember the chipset will go up. I prefer the fans spinning faster than the throttling or hotter temps. A good chipset replacement one is the Evercool VC-RE. It’s quieter and a lot of people get a 5ºC - 10ºC drop in temp. Use AS5 when installing the new one. If you decide to order a new one do DFI-Street a favor and use the link in Happy_Games signature for the VC-RE chipset cooler. DFI-Street gets a credit and that helps fund the Street. wevsspot Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 If possible, pull the board from the case and do a minimum hardware boot. This will eliminate case fans or other non-essential components as a source of your noise. It will also make it alot easier to determine exactly where the noise is coming from. Additionally we'll be able to determine whether it's a mechanical induced noise or an electrical induced noise. Hopefully the former and not the later. red930 Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I say it's the power supply since dphreak hasn't gotten his sig up to standards. One more post without a complete sig and this thread will be deleted.

red930 Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 how to use safe boot Can you explain what you mean by "safe boot"? Are you talking about a minimal hardware setup or "Safe Mode" in the OS?
