cybervicke Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Hey mates. My idle temp on the CPU is 37-38 and the load temp is up to 44-50 is this to high?
lowboy Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Not to high if load is with dual prime running. Most like to stay under 50C with dual prime.
SeanDude05 Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 The idle looks to be MAYBE a little higher than normal on that Zalman. What are your ambient temps like? And how's your thermal paste application?
Axis Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 idle temps seem a little high you have a decent cooler, I'm assuming you're using as for the paste? I can't really make much of a comparison, I'm running an amd 64 3700+ at 2.75ghz with idel temps at 28-31 and 35-36 at load
cybervicke Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 my chipset temp is 48idle and PWM IC 43C my thermal paste accplication is like the picture shows. but ive putted on some more on it a few minutes a go. on my old 3500+ it was 32C Idle. My paste appc : http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/2306/cpu005io9.jpg .. EDIT : I have some artic cooling paste that came with an old cooler i had the same on my 3500+ and it was 32C idle. but the artic cooling paste is not AS5. SeanDude05 Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 The paste application doesnt look bad. Maybe your CPU just runs hotter. Chipset 48c idle... I'd probably get some extra airflow down on that section of the board.
Axis Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 you can see through the paste in a few areas...so it looks thick in some places and thin in others but otherwise not too bad. Have you tried just putting a small drop in the middle and then smushing it down with the heat sink? Some people get better results that way. Is it AS? It looks a little blue'ish
cybervicke Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 hehe Axis i now its just my camera it sucks.. ( its white ) Okey but now i have thick paste everywhere on the cpu still same temps.. maybe this X2 runs hotter..
jfazzie Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I've just gone from a 3800+ to an opteron 170 and have noticed how much hotter the 170 runs. I'm getting 38 at idle and sometimes 50+ on Prime, with my old 3800+ I was at 36 idle and about 45 full.
ollietwinam Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Mine are pretty much the same cybervicke... between 35 and 38 idle, and pretty much the same during load (games, haven't primed yet)... My airflow is cr*p though, only got one fan (CPU) and no exhaust or anything... so that could be it
cybervicke Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 i got 1 fan exhaust thats blowing out the air below. and 1 fan blowing on the hdds and 2 fans on the side of the case thats blowing to the cpu and on the mobo and on the gfx and over the pci's and soo on.. But its good to now that someone has almost the same temps.
RadiQal Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 You should ''play'' with you air-flow... you're Zalman CNPS7000B could performe much better...although, it isn't a xtreme high temp... **RadiQal is thinking about his order inlcuding his upcomming CNPS9500 AM2 :-)
