nF4 Ultra-D No POST

Recommended Posts

I can't tell you the BIOS data since system will not post. As needed, specs in sig.

First boot was successful. I entered BIOS and enabled USB keyboard/mouse, checked temps, then saved. After reboot system will only power up for about 2 seconds then powers down. No beep codes, no LED codes (all 4 on, then all off). I've tried alternate powersupplies, but same problem. CPU, GPU, and Memory all work in other rigs. I'm sorta stumped. I've done the bios clear proceedure, but same problem. All power connectors (floppy, molex, 4pin, and atx) are connected.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Greg

yea obviously you are not posting due to a bios setting that you adjusted so clear them and load optimized defaults....if it wont post after that clear again and fine tune all settings...

you would think. i've gone as far as the 8hr bios clear and still no dice. i'm working on the 24 hour clear now... i just can't imagine how enabling usb keyboard+mouse support would keep the board from posting.

one thing i did note was the nf4 chipset cooler was hot to the touch, even though the system was not powering on completely.

thanks for the suggestions!

well, the 24hr clear didn't do it either. fans spin for about a second, all lights come on (4 led's) then the whole thing powers down. seems like something is shorting out or grounding improperly, but i can't for the life of me find it.

edit: one thing i didn't mention is the two amber leds on the board do come on and stay on as per usual. not sure if that would help anyone.

I Know exactly how you feel I am going thru the poop-ola:confused: I have tried all the recommended proceedures but am still stuck in pre-post...... "sigh". What a good combination of hardware just sitting there lifeless, oh the horor :/

Right now I am in uncharted waters switching over to DFI, So its DFI tech support advice I get to lead back at sea..

Have either of you tried to build outside of the case? And with minimal hardware/CMOS clear?

yea, right now sitting on the dfi box. going to pick up another power supply today, maybe i'm just very unlucky and got two bad ones. i don't know what else to try/do short of rma'ing the motherboard.

oh well...

Well, tried another powersupply (ocz modstream 550) and same problem. nF4 chipset heats up very fast and gets very hot. after having the pc off for a few hours i was able to get into the bios again. after about 30 seconds, the system shut down. nF4 cooler is HOT to the touch... sounds like the board may be bad. fan on nF4 chipset is working and chipset cooler is stock.

Any other suggestions before RMA time?
