Coors Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I'll start at the beginning to let you know exactly what I did. I was running a dual boot setup with Windows xp Pro and windows Server 2003. I was done toying around with server 2003 so I was going to do a fresh install of xp pro over everything. Then I saw a thread about people having problems with their sil raid controller. I've always used the nvidia raid so I thought I'd try out the sil and see how it worked out for me. Well during the install I actcidently installed the nvidia drivers instead of the sil drivers and I got an error when it tried to intsall saying something like "No disk drives were detected." So I rebooted and now all I get is 4 LEDs and thats it. I've tried clearing the cmos and still nothing. I even took everything out of the case and completely rebuilt it to make sure all of the connections were good. And I swapped cpu's and I still get the same thing. Any suggestions? ReelFiles Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Lowboy explains the Diagnostic LEDs here; http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...348&postcount=
Coors Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Yeah, thats why I swapped CPUs but it still freezes at 4 leds
ReelFiles Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Have you tried booting with a minimal configuration? 1 GPU, 1 stick of RAM in the top orange slot, No drives connected?
Coors Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 After I took it apart I tried rebooting with just cpu, then just cpu and memory, then cpu memory and vid card, then with everything and all with the same results. Before putting it back together I waited like 18 hours while I slept and went to work. But when I get back I'll try clearing the cmos from a no boot condition step by step like from exroadie's directions. Is it possible that the bios got corrupted? Coors Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Ok, I did a cmos clear step by step as stated on Exroadie's "no boot condition guide" and when I press and hold "insert", it doesn't beep. Could this be because I have a wireless keyboard? The cord that plugs in the keyboard is a PS/2 cord. Also, I did the 24 hour cmos clear. EDIT: Ok, I swapped keyboards to a plain old PS/2 one and it still doesn't beep when I hold insert. Has anyone else had this problem? Never_enough Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 I'm having the same problem now, trying eveything from this site but nothing so far is helping. How does one RMA this board "best way" "LanParty SLI-DR" Bought it from Newegg, but site says i must deal with DFI for RMA's. thanks
Coors Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Well, I'm thinking it could be PSU related. I'm not sure as this PSU has been rock solid but you also have the same one and a lot of people here seem to of have had problems with their Antec PSU's. I'm going to try swapping with a friend and see if it fixes it.

Coors Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Thanks for the links. I'll try that when I get home.
Never_enough Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Well, checked PSU, all voltages are in specsas far as start up voltages goes. still 4 leds stay on. tried everything here except the 24 hours of clearing the CMOS. I really don't think that it's the slove'er here. tried it for 4 hours. Since i didn't get any answer on how to RMA this board, I'll just have to go to DFI site i read up... Coors Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Well my psu started when I jumped it so i'm guessing its still good. But I have a OCZ GSX 700 watt on the way anyways. If the new PSU doesn't fix it is my only other option RMAing the mobo?
