Bulldoggie Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 For many games (Prey and Auto Assault most recently), if I launch a game after the screen blacks out from inactivity, the PC freezes and I have to reboot. I have no screen saver set to come on, so I assume this is some kind of power saver feature in the BIOS. How do I turn this off? I've messed with the automatic power saving stuff in the BIOS before and was burned - and have no desire to repeat the experience. Seems this should be really easy to do if it's done right. SeanDude05 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Have you tried clearing the CMOS, then Loading Optimized Defaults and playing to see if it is a BIOS power feature? If not, what are your windows power saving options?
Bulldoggie Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 I could have sworn I reset the windows power stuff. Maybe some update reset it. At any rate, I found out Windows was shutting down the monitor - not the BIOS. We'll see soon enough if that fixes this. In the meantime Sean is the man! SeanDude05 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Yep. 90% of the time when you've got a PC in standby that wont recover, its Windows' fault.
