boywander Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Have to upgrade to X2, with low prices and current sys issues - want to get as high-end as possible though. Going to have to hit the savings, but hope someone can clear something up. Simple question, DR or DR Expert - and would dual 16 on a different board make a second card (bought later) much more of an upgrade? Especially if the hardware's fairly old by then. Decided fastest X2 I can afford and Gamexstream 600w (on reading "recommended" thread), reusing the rest. Also have chipset HSF to use on mobo, hence DFI. The current PSU would go to progressing rig. Thanks, if anyone answers.
lowboy Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 I would go for sli-dr mobo. MOBO won't like mixed memory much though.
boywander Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Meant 16x each with both cards, but by that time be better to replace single one anyway. Only seen an Asus one that does that; uses heatpipe, so no HSF (yeah, it's the VC-RE). Not current card (which is AGP), buying one for this. Would rather wait for more mem then, make do with the 1Gb. If it has four slots, put them on different channels surely? (not familiar with board layouts). Else 512 also goes to bro's system. edit - Think NF4 DR, Expert (going on posts) sounds like a pain to live with. Change cooling too, Arctic Freezer Pro or such.
