Odd o/c settings with NF4 DFI EXpert

Recommended Posts

Hey all, currently at :

2800mhz san diago, 255mhz FSB, 3x, ram around 200, 166setting,

TRYING to get the FSB (chipset) speed up as I wanna see what it can handle as wanna 3800x2, and to get to the 2700mhz speeds ill need high fsb, iv tried 300mhz cpu multi at 9x, ram lowered to conform to around 200, doesnt boot :(, tried lots of others, how on earth can the chipset not go above 255, got it at 1.71v at mo, what should I do ?

Max Async, Read Preamble, Tref and drive strengths are the Key. Even on a divider.

The board will not need any extra chipset voltage to bust 300. I can go 328 at 1.52 chipset v.

give us a clue then :) ,lol, iv just tried 266mhz fsb, and it hanged again, with fair amounts of volts running through all components, everything on auto for the more 'complex' stuff

Max Async 8.0, Read Preamble 5.5, Tref 3120 is usually good, also try 3072, Drive strength 8 Data Srive Strength 2. Try to keep your memory speed close to 200FSB so as not to get the memory to far under spec.

Hi, didnt effect it what so ever im afraid, tried both tref settings (all settings were changed in the dram area of bios), tried:

9x300

3htt

ram 3/4 = 200mhz

cpu volts 1.525

LDT 1.4

Chipset 1.59

ram 2.71

Temps are all reasonble, chipset 47, cpu 37, system 26/29 c

ALSO upgraded the bios to the 406 Bios

What gives?

Does it still give out at 255? Not going to be able to get it all in one shot. Basically just need to find out where it gives up at and then see if likes things a little looser or tighter to get ahead.

yeah still dont like anything above 255, carnt think where to look where its going wrong though, the ram, cpu all at same as they are now pretty much, seems to be the chipset somehow, thats why iv kept ram cpu same to remove them from equation

I had an Opty 146 that didn't run well at all if I was using the 9 multi and the 166 divider.

Try a different combination of Multi and divider. BTW. X2 3800 uses 10X multi.

HI !

got these settings at the moment:

DRAM Frequency Set - 140

Command Per Clock (CPC) - enable

CAS Latency Control (Tcl) - 2

RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd) - 03 Bus Clocks

Min RAS# active time (Tras) - 05 Bus Clocks

Row precharge time (Trp) - 02 Bus Clocks

Row Cycle time (Trc) - 08 Bus Clocks

Row refresh cyc time (Trfc) - 16 Bus Clocks

Row to Row delay (Trrd) - 04 Bus Clocks

Write recovery time (Twr) - 03 Bus Clocks

Write to Read delay (Twtr) - 02 Bus Clocks

Read to Write delay (Trwt) - 03 Bus Clocks

Refresh Period (Tref) - 3120 Cycles

Write CAS Latency (Twcl) - auto

DRAM Bank Interleave - Enabled

DQS Skew Control - Auto

DQS Skew Value - 0

DRAM Drive Strength - Level 8

DRAM Data Drive Strength - Level 4

Max Async Latency - 10.0 Nano Seconds

DRAM Response Time - Normal

Read Preamble Time - 8.0 Nano Seconds

IdleCycle Limit - 256 Cycles

Dynamic Counter - Disabled

R/W Queue Bypass - 16x

Bypass Max - 04x

32 Byte Granularity - Disable(4 Bursts)

SEEMS to be working at the moment, gives me a ram speed of 200mhz, cpu is at 2860, FSB 286mhz

Seems ok, are any of the above settings SERIOUSLY slowing my PC down or ? I dont get what they all mean, is there a number in there that i SHOULD aim to be higher/lower as it makes big differences to the systems performance ?
