DFI -NF4 Expert Raid driver BSOD

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I'm having problems with the Raid driver installation for the NF4-expert mb.

Atm I have the original 4.79 version of the raid driver installed.. but if I tryto update it to anything else I get a BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL .. what a hell is going on..

The only other card I have in my system is an X-fi and it isn't shared with anything..

This has never happen to me before.. if I reinstall XP.. with any other driver than the 4.79.. XP will install but when finished it won't start.. the BSOD magically appears..

Anyone any ideas why this is happening?

Which bios version on the expert? If it's an older bios it may have an older raid bios.

Hi,

i'm using the newest bios available from DFI:s site. Flashed the board before starting installing XP.

Thanks

I'm using the 6.85 drivers nlited onto a CD. I haven't used any of the 4 series drivers or the floppy that came with the board as most were corrupt from dfi.

Jeps, thought about that nlite thing.. but when I managed to install XP succesfully without any problems..

Hate BSODs.. so I guess I'm stuck with the old 4.79 Raid driver.. not nice..

Bump.. anyone.. going to try I clean install today when I get home from work again..

Or maybe I should try to make a slipstream or an nlite XP SP install cd.. hmm.. if the newer drivers would install that way..

I'm all open to suggestions.

Thanks.

Ok, used Nlite to slipstream XP SP2 setup with the 6.70 drivers.. and no go.. still gives the same BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error after installation.. Only way I get my system running is with the 4.79 Raid drivers..

Would be nice to know what's up with my system...

Anyone?

I'm having similar issues with my system on an LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D.

I just got this motherboard with an Opteron 165 along with 4 x 360GD (36GB) and immediately went to install x64 on a striped raid array with no-go. I can get Windows set up to see the array, then partition, format, install files, boot into graphic setup, punch in cd-key and finish installation without errors. The first thing after that is Windows attempt to bootup, shows logo and all, then a quick BSOD (too fast to see why) and a soft reboot and goes into a cycle. I tried safe-mode with no go, but under safe mode the last thing it loaded was ACPI.dat.

After several failed attempts I also try to install Windows XP x32 with same issues, then tried installing into a single PATA then a single non raided-SATA both with success, which helps me isolate to a RAID install.

Then last night I gave it one more go using the drivers provided at dfi.com.tw support for x64, as well as the latest BIOS and I destroyed the array and rebuild it and got Windows to boot up finally, and went to sleep (at 3am). I havent got any more time to investigate, and wont until I get home from work.

I know it did not work with any drivers from nvidia's latest nforce4 nvraid drivers. wierd. Hence why I'm here reading the forums for any other users having similar issues.
