AKASchwanksta Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 I have a pretty noobish question about BIOS flashing. I just did a full night of overclocking and just got my X2 3800 to 2.7 ghz on air. Im really happy but there are a few really annoying problems with my computer (not related to OCing). If i get a new BIOS, will it reset all the FSBs and Ram clocks? Also, is there is explainable reason why (after clearing drivers and un-installing old sound software) my system no longer shuts down after I installed an Audigy 4? red930 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Which sound card did you have previously? On-Board? Which drivers did you install for your Audigy (be more specific please...)? If you flash to another Bios it is recommend to clear the CMOS and don't use the CMOS RELOADED options but start fresh again. Different Bios version have different Ram Roms, which means it's different from bios to bios, i guess. What's the annoying part of your system that is troubling you. You might not have to flash the bios at all, might be something else. PLEASE explain your problems and in detail, thank you. AKASchwanksta Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 The annoying problem is the the computer not shutting down. Before this I used the nForce4 sound, which i believe was using Realtek. I installed the newest drivers on the creative site, and it didn't do anything. So then i just did a clean sweep, wiped everything, and started over. That didn't do a thing, so now im just using the cd ones (after another clean sweep)
red930 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Well, did you disable the ON-BOARD sound in your Bios before installing the Audigy 4? Your problem has nothing to do with a new bios flash dude.... Note: What about your initial install (Putting together your system)? Which steps did you take? -All four power plugs connected to the motherboard? -Did you check your rails (12v, 3.3v, and 5v) when you have a dual core processor, ram, gpu overclocked at those speeds? -Which bios version did your motherboard come with out of the box? I hope these help....
