Guest FxXP Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 I am thinking of bringing back the OCCC site. I know its a big decision, but I would like to bring back something that meant a lot to the previous users of the forum, and I need to take on a challenge, I love challenges. So far I have a server setup that is ready to go, and I have a 2.5Mbps DSL line /w 640K upstream that will be ready on Wed (so Telus tells me). If you want to post your opinions or suggestions, please go ahead. Bosco, if you don't want this to happen, I understand completely and will forget about the project if you don't want this to happen. If possible, lets try and make this a success! Thank You for your time.
andrusk Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 You can give a dead horse mouth to mouth as much as you want, but it aint coming back to life. See what im saying? Probably not, cause i dont care wether you bring it back or not, mainly cause occ has always been my home. But im sure all you guys from occc are missing your segregation so, go ahead segragate yourselves. We'll miss you guys
Guest FxXP Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 I didn't make this post to start a flame war. It had a lot of members and got tons of hits. I don't see this being an issue. Sure, the southern neighbors may not care about it, but I take that with a grain of salt
andrusk Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 but I take that with a grain of salt I expect that. Im just trying to say, we will miss you guys. Its always nicer to have more members to add to the community, but you know, do what you will.
Guest FxXP Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 Well they don't have to leave this site at all. I don't expect that. Heck, most the OCCC members are old OCC members.
d3bruts1d Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 (edited) You can't bring back OCCC. You have no rights to the name, copyrights, or trademarks. The name and domain name OverclockersClubCanada belongs to LP and Bos.... or maybe just LP now. So you would have to purchase the name from them... provided they would sell it. And it wouldn't be cheap. Most of the OCCC members are happy here, or have found another home elsewhere... and we're happy with the old OCCC members here. Why change agreat thing? Guest FxXP Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 Bah, screw it...I'll just make up my own site then... I got other uses for the server connection.
Overclocker16 Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 BTW, that connection wouldn't hold that many people on.

Guest FxXP Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 You'd be surprised how many businesses here run a DSL server connection. Yes business, not forums. I'm not looking to go full bore with the amount of income that I have. PHP is more optimized then HTML anyway, and runs much better with the Zend optimizer. bigred Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 what I don't get is this need for a second OCC. does it matter where you live (at least to me it shouldn't)? I know I've seen the canadian bashing from time to time, but it quickly gets stopped around here now. so gather up the whole gang from OCCC and move em back here... the more folks we have bringing thier know how to the tabel the better it is. H2O Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 I have to agree with Bigred. It's better to have one and only one site to go to for computer usage information and support than having to jump from site to site just to look for an answer. As far as I'm concerned, support, ideas, mods, new tech and so on are the same whether you live up north, south east or west.
