Evil-Fruits|R4z Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 So, finally got it all stable @ stock with the exception of the X-FI drivers whichseem to like BSOD every once in a while..... So I started to find max CPU FSB as per the OC guide, testing with SuperPi at the mo and got 2.6Ghz @ stock 1.35V, it then wouldnt boot windows so, I upped to 1.375V and got 2.7 to complete the 32M test - temps were CPU 41c, PWMIC 51c and Chipset 44c under load. Now tho it wont boot any higher even with 1.4V, either hangs loading windows or BSOD with hardware failure stop code. Question is shall I go higher with voltage and if so how much higher, I was thinking max of 1.5V - opinions.... EdLSmith Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Using Divider" What is FSB/HTT Multi set on? Best on Auto or 3. B! is good memory controller, you should get at least 2.8 Ghz.
Evil-Fruits|R4z Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 yeah had divider on 100mhz and FSB/HTT was on 2.5 Yeah I thought it would hit 2.8 easy too on air, maybe 3.0 on H2O but, thats for later on - lol wouldn't have thought that it was the RAm timings but, they were 3-3-3-7 so have changed to 3-4-4-8 and will go again at higher voltage I think. What is the top do you think for air, 1.5V??
blazin-asian Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 the most i would go on air is 1.55v, but 41c load at 1.4v is not bad. the CCB1Es run hotter then most optys, but they have a really good memory controller. i would leave memory at default timings with 1:2 divider to take it out of the equation and start upping the fsb/vcore. are you just using SuperPi to test for stability or are you using Prime/SP2004 too? Evil-Fruits|R4z Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Just trying to get the highest stable SuperPi clock then move to OCCT/Prime 95 and clock down if required. BTW that 41c load is up from 38/39c idle in a room with a 26c ambient temp & case temp is 29c..... Yeah I have defaulted the RAM back to auto and will just stick some more volts thru it and see how it goes - bit of a UK heatwave at the mo so it's not helping the OC'ing atm. Also what kind of temps should I begin to worry at for the PWMIC, Smart Guardian says 50/51c under load but, I have tested temps with multimeter (its a fancy one - lol) and it says 38c so, I was gonna use some VGA ramsinks on it anyway but, was wondering if the sensor is duff or just cos its slightly covered by the CPU heatsink in the location it is?? Alienwhere Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 are the temp sensors on the venus like the expert and off a bit?
Evil-Fruits|R4z Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Well CPU seems on the money as Smart Guardian, my Multimeter and my Hardcano all report within 1c....dunno bout the Chipset but it looks about right, the PWMIC sensor is located above the CPU ZIF socket but, the chip itself is is in the top right corner of the board so, I think thats the reason - anyway gonna ramsink it anyway, just to be sure to let it have the best non-fan method of cooling. r4z
ICON57 Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 i would say 1.5v ....usually going over that voltage will cause the temps to rise alot higher than what you are getting now...usually in the mid 40's at idle.
Evil-Fruits|R4z Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 So I got it to complete SuperPi 32M test @ 2790Mhz with 1.475V but, it bummed out at OCCT, even with 1.5V. It has however just completed OCCT at 2745Mhz with 1.5V, gonna Prime itnow and see hw it goes. My only concern are the temps tho', currently CPU - 49/50c, PWMIC - 61c & Chipset 45c under load, with the ambient room temp of 28/29c. Idle temps are CPU - 38c, PWMIC - 49/50c & Chipset 44c. Got a 50mm ex-Pentium CPU fan handy so, I'm thinking bout temp. mounting it to see if I can get the PWMIC temp down - if its reporting correctly that is, as it seems awfully high?? Any comments?? Alienwhere Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 them temps sound decent to me, considering my 165 @ 1.47 runs @ 55 loaded once I set the temps right in the bios, Im not sure if my temp sensor is really off, buit I set it +6 anyway... sucks your vpwm clocks so badly.. I had a 0550 upmw that clocked pretty much the same, sold it for this 0610 dpwm 2.9 1.44 - 1.
Evil-Fruits|R4z Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Well it completed 9 hours of dual prime but, at 300FSB thats 2.7Ghz with 1.5V. Got the RAM to run @245Mhz with 3-3-2-8 on 5/6 divider, just doing benchies for OCDB screenies, tbh I'm a bit disappointed as I thought it would do 2.8 on air easy....oh well time for a W/C setup I think!! LOL
Evil-Fruits|R4z Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 So now I have tightened the RAM to 3-2-2-6 @ 250Mhz I thought I would dip back into the CPU and give it some more juice. It booted Windows @310FSB/2.8Ghz with 1.5V + 104% but, dumped out on Dual Prime on Core 0 after 5 mins even with 1.56V (by my reackoning?) and anyway the CPU temp was low 60c which didnt make me happy. As it did 2.6Ghz on stock voltage but, now seems to be a bit voltage hungry, what do you guys reackon I could squeeze out of it with a good W/C setup (Swiftech Storm, DD Radiator etc...). Is 3Ghz a possibility??? cheers r4z Btw gonna put a thread on the water setup in Reccomendations if anyone has any ideas/opinions
