Hochi Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Hello , I'm deciding whether to buy the ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe or the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert and i have some questions i hope you guys can answer 1. I have a few questions about the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert, Does anyone know how much power the cpu uses when idle / load ? I know on the ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe it uses 17-36 watts more than the DFI board. Any clue why? 2. Not to sound rude , but i've heard reports that if a motherboard dies and it goes through the RMA process. The buyer is blamed for damaging the mobo even though it was not the buyer's fault. Has anyone else experienced this? and what is the time limit on warranties? 3. Which board do you guys recommend? For me so far i'm leaning towards DFI because of the pci-x placement and the overclockability. Thanks
Guest GripS Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Go with DFI. Any RMA process can be a pain but this forum is by far the best support forum out there(with an actual DFI employee). Seeing as how DFI offers the best overclocking it's a no brainer to chose a DFI board. There is a recommended PSU list here in this forum. DO NOT use a 20-24 pin converter. Just get one off the recommended list to avoid future issues.
Hochi Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 thanks for the reply. If someone can answer #2 in detail i would be happy
SeanDude05 Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 #2 - Ive never heard of anyone being blamed by DFI during an RMA. If you want to clarify about RMA, I would talk to Happy_Games. He's employed by DFI, and owns these boards, he's the head honcho around here. #3 - If you want the extra space between video cards and some more in-depth BIOS tweaks, go for the Expert, if not, I'd recommend the SLI-D or if you want RAID, SLI-DR. #4 - DFI recommends you use a native 24pin PSU. I would highly recommend you acquire a PSU off of this list: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10854 Also, get your system specs into your sig ASAP. Even if you don't have one yet, put the components you plan on purchasing into your sig.
Quinn Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 thanks for the reply. If someone can answer #2 in detail i would be happy I just went through the RMA process and I was very happy with the way they handled me. They even sent me the replacement board in advance. Turns out my mobo wasn't even bad, it just didn't like the keyboard I was using. They're taking the board they sent back w/o question. All in all, I couldn't have asked any more of them. Don't let RMA concerns affect your buying decision.

Evil_inc Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 #1 I do not own either an asus or dfi board but if the asus board uses more power than the dfi board with the same processor then the dfi board is more efficent, either due to the quality of the parts used, or the board is planned out so the circuitry is alot shorter in between parts so it will generate less heat, keeping more power in as electricty.
