BLEACHERMAN1 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Hi Guys new here so i hope maybe you experts can shed a bit a lite on this problem for me. I put this system together back in january since then the system auto reboots when ever by that I mean at post at idle in windows surfing the web you name it. So after being disgusted I parked it and haven't messed with it for a few months since I have maved and have been remodeling. Now I started asking a few laymen builders and they said first off the PS was the problem and then it was the V card. I replaced the Xconnect 500w to the 600w sli xfinity no change then i replaced the card with the MSI sli 6800 no changes. I call DFI and spoke to a tech abouth the 4power hook ups and he said that only if I ran 2 cards in SLI did they have to be connected. Now I was told also by the tech to vist here and I saw that in fact all 4 power hook ups need to be copnnected. This I did on 7/7/06 and to my surprize it worked flawlessly until Monday when by the advise of the DFI tech tried to flash a new bios now I got nothing will not post past the cmos ..ok ?? Im stumped. Thanks for any help provided.. KMG
Wild Thing Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Did you clear Cmos and load optomized defaults after flashing?
BLEACHERMAN1 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Thanks for the fast reply WOW!! Well I wasn't told by the DFI tech to clear the cmos?? He just said to flash the newer bios. I did explain to him i was a blue collar builder and never did this before. So to answer your Question..No I didn't KMG
Wild Thing Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Try a short cmos clear about 5 min. should do, then load optimized defaults and ram timings if needed.

old_geekster Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Welcome to the "Street". Here is a great link to help you: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20832 Follow the steps carefully and it should help considerably. As you are finding, DFI mobos are not necessarily for the faint of heart. They are made for hard-core OC'ers. Guys like you and me are going to have some frustrating times until we are no longer the new kid on the block. Nothing will beat good ole experience with the boards. davidk21770 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Also, plug in the extra power plugs -- it helps with stability even if you're not running SLI.
BLEACHERMAN1 Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Hi, Guys just a little note to say so far so good, Had to wait for new memory to arrive it came today in the mean time cleared CMOS since the 14th installed new memory put battery in powered up set optimized settings and seems ok so far.. Now I want to ask if the 50C when I run Americas Army game is ok? At Idle it runs 39C to 40C ??Should I get better cooling for CPU? While my other comp. was down I put together another similar system with the ASUS A8N32-SLI delux with and opty 144 and it runs the game at 39C with the same case. Is it because of the 144 runs cooler? Well thanks i'll keep you posted on progress on the DFI and see if I encounter any more problems.. Thanks again. eric Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Yes the 144 runs a lot cooler, I have one and it is great with a Zalman CNPS 9500 LED (I highly recommend that as well as the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64). I'm assuming you are using the stock cooler.
