Angry_Games Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 well... my brother just bought me two of these so I could give him my Samsung 915N 19" LCD I wanted a Dell 24" widescreen but I just can't pay $750+ for one so instead he offered to get me TWO of these 19" widescreens http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16824116373 Does anyone here have one (or two haha) of these? Any comments?
s10man69 Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Looks like it's a pretty good monitor man...258 excellent reviews = worth buying in my book... Can you help me by the way over in ATI chipsets?
the_PC_Chef Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 You could get the OEM VX922 with its 2ms for a dollar more at newegg. Sorry, just noticed you already had them. I love Viewsonic's, and two 19" widescreens are better than one!
Angry_Games Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 rats i didnt see the 2ms versions oh well as long as I can game on them and do work if they aren't good for gaming, I will just give one to momma and one to a lab station and get the damn 24" Widescreen from Dell
Angry_Games Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 btw i just looked at newegg and they are not widescreen, and i would never buy an open-box monitor (some items are ok open-box, but monitors are like hockey skates...I just have to have brand new ones cuz someone else's sweaty nasty feet and mine just dont get along lol)

Fogel Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 You sure you want that Dell 2405FPW? You'll have the prettiest monitor you can't enjoy with that nasty Native Resolution of 1920x1200 and ugly response times of past 20ms. Check out this review if you think its just conjecture. Great monitor, just not good for what most enthusiasts would like it for... Movies and Games. Shame too, it does really good in color reproduction and clarity. Though the brightness is still too off for photo retouch artists. ViewSonic puts out amazing monitors. Can't speak to the 1912wb but you got them so you can be the judge and let us know. See it is people like this guy here that puts out the bad vibes for everyone else... I have a Dell 24" monitor (for about 10 months now) and I game on it just about everyday. Nasty native res of 1920x1200?? umm that is a good thing, plus there is this setting on the monitor that will self adjust to run the resolution of the application in use... (that means it will not stretch the image) Ugly responce time of 20ms. I have agree with ya on that one, Mine is 16ms (not sure where you got the 20ms from...)(prolly the same place THW get most of its data from...) I have agree with ya on that one, Mine is 16ms (not sure where you got the 20ms from...)(prolly the same place THW get most of its data from...) see, CPU Killer is the whole reason I want one I've sat down at his rig in Portland and used it, and I fell in love with it I'm actually lucky that I couldn't get ahold of him the night I ordered these monitors, because I tried to call him and ask him if I should just stfu and get the 2407 (newer than his 2405), and I know for a fact he would have told me that it was stupid to call him knowing that he would tell me to just get the 2407 lol. I just couldn't see spending $750 on a monitor yet...not when it is my brother's money (I already paid him back half of the money). As for you Fogel, you should be careful...you have no idea that I've already used the 2405, and I've actually used it for gaming (as has momma) while we were at PDXLAN with CPU Killer (and there were a few others that had this monitor there, as well as many here in this forum, and not a single one of them is not 100% satisfied...and if there are any that are not satisfied, they have never posted here that I know of). It's bad karma to go around posting about something you don't even know just because someone (one person it looks like from your link) doesn't like something that quite a few that have the product and the experience really like. Fogel Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Fair enough. You can call it bad vibes and wish me bad karma all you want, especially if you're only going to read a small section of what I write. I may not have written a glowing review touting its splendid glory over the monitor market. Perhaps I was a bit more direct than I should have been, but I did say its a really nice monitor both in that post above and others I have written on this board. Though from my own person experience with the monitor it is too slow (and with a 16~20ms refresh rate I really shouldn't be the only one as you claim to notice this since the human eye can detect up to 6~8ms) ...especially for how much money you drop on it. I have friends who have it, so I heard their comments AND seen both the movie and gaming feedback on it. Its not just based on an online review. If I was basing my whole opinion on 2nd hand info, I would of kept my mouth shut. But guess I should have anyway.
Angry_Games Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 CPU Killer owns them, and uses them daily. I've seen them in action enough to know they are fantastic monitors. Everyone has a different opinion. Some people are not satisfied with anything, while some of us are satisfied with things that make most scratch their heads in wonderment. CPU Killer's opinion is one that I respect more than anyone else's opinion because i know him personally, and I work closely with him on a lot of things, and he and I are into almost all of the same things. Online reviews...I don't have a whole lot of respect for them because they from people I don't know, and usually pretty biased no matter how objective they claim to be. I respect that you don't care for the monitors. Hopefully you'll understand that. But keep in mind that you are pretty much the minority around here as we've yet to encounter a single person who isn't very satisfied with their Dell 24" widescreen. (you might not know this since you've not been around the Street that long though)
