Quinn Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 2k/XP don't really share IRQs. Think of them as virtual IRQs. If the drivers are programmed correctly, then you will have no issues. This is of course assuming you have installed a PnP HAL. If IRQs are virtual, then how come disabling an adapter that used the same virtual IRQ made such a noticable difference on my system in regard to video stuttering? Is this an indication of another type of problem?
Guest Kobalt Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 That means the drivers are crap. AFAIK, *all* drivers that have the WHQL logo, *must* work with any IRQ that it gets assigned to it. If not, then they don't get the WHQL logo, and well, they need more work. This don't mean that ALL drivers that don't have WHQL logo are bad. MS charges them to test, so some companies don't bother paying MS to do the testing.
