Titan Quest multiplayer here

Recommended Posts

well, the DFI-Street Dedicated Server is up and running on Hamachi right now (search this thread if you don't know how to setup Hamachi!)

Momma and I are gonna try to get a little gaming in before hockey tonight.

Right now it is set for +/- 20 levels, and the server's character is lvl 1 (there is no 'real' dedicated server, this server is just running but no one is playing on it, and it is optimized for running as a dedicated server)

Enjoy!

ps: I'll probably remake the server at some point and set the level range back to default of +/- 64 levels, and of course I will restart teh server once a day or more to reset all the quests.

If you cannot get into the Hamachi network, just post here or ask me on Xfire to fix it as the limit is 16 concurrent users, so it might be full!

Well, I've only got one character now - a level 38 Avenger (Hunter + Earth) who's around 1/3rd of the way through Egypt on Epic difficulty. Starting to find some pretty sweet stuff, which is really making up for the tougher baddies. I've only run into a problem once near the end of Greece where a huge automaton could stun me from about half a screen away for 10 seconds, then finish me off...he could also kill my elemental in 4-5 hits. Kinda rough...probably a taste of more to come in Legendary.

It's looking like the game is intended to be playable through Epic at least, should be interesting to see if Legendary is as difficult as Hell on Diablo 2 was (without proper gear).

One note to any going to Epic any time soon - watch out for sarcophagus traps, the poison can take 2000+ hit points away in only a couple seconds without some resistance gear on. :)

you should jump in there

looking at the ded server's screen it shows the ded server @ lvl7, my buddy Daemon @ 23, Magius @ 29, and Azinsuken (heh, the rookie is what we call him) @ 19

how does this game compare to D2? I am once addicted again to D2 but as most of you know the graphics are dated. I'm wondering how the leveling, items, skills are like in Titan Quest.

I got GuildWars for my online rpg but it wasnt like D2...more of fantasy rpg and you can't lvl like you can in D2...it's more skill based rather than mouse clicking all the time.

Convince me to get it!

Well if you were one of the guys on D2 that just believed in stacking a single skill and casting it a billion times in a row...that ain't gonna cut it. Most any powerful spells have pretty long recharge times (like a few seconds, none of the quarter second crap)...so that means you better have something else to hit with during the wait.

Resistances really come into play against bosses, not so much in Normal, but Epic even with 50% resist they could sometimes one-hit me.

Personally, I think its a much better game than Diablo. Part of this stems from actually having new spells and whatnot to play with, the rest just comes from overall gameplay. There are a few bugs I think they need to work on, but they're only minor and only really piss me off when I die.

Get the demo, I think you'll like it.

There is a new patch available (v.1.11), I'm downloading it now (through the update button in-game). Be sure to back up any save games, just in case. :)

As promised last week, THQ and Iron Lore have released a second patch for Titan Quest, bringing the action RPG to version 1.11. A list of fixes:

General:

- Fixed NPC dialogue fading when bumped by pets

- Fixed crash when loading a custom map in-game that contains a sheep herder

- Fixed a word wrap error in monster and NPC name dialogs that appears in some languages

- Changed mouse input to swap left and right buttons when the option is selected in Windows

- Implemented Time Smoothing to reduce hitches and decrease blur when the player character is moving

- Implemented logging system to track crashes in Titan Quest™. Upon a crash, Titan Quest™ will create a log file named "Exceptions.txt" in the My GamesTitan Quest directory.

Video:

- Fixed crashes and graphical corruptions related to low video memory on PCs

- Fixed a 'Fatal Error' message appearing when the game is booting up after the update process on a system with a Mobility™ Radeon® 9200

- Improved video memory test to correctly identify 128 MB ATI Radeon® x300 and ATI Mobility™ Radeon® 9200 cards

- Fixed graphic elements becoming corrupted when running NVIDIA® 6600 series card over a long period of time

- Implemented Triple Buffering to allow smoother gameplay and less blurring with V-Sync enabled.

To enable Triple Buffering, go to the My GamesTitan QuestSettings directory and open the options.txt file after changing any option in game. Find the setting called "tripleBuffer" and change its value to true. If the setting does not exist, add the line “tripleBuffer=true” to the end of the options.txt file. Note that enabling triple buffering uses more Video memory, so you may have to try it both ways to find the correct setting for your system.

Multiplayer:

- Fixed slow down in gameplay due to large amounts of player chat

- Fixed items being lost in the trade window if the server shuts down while the trade window is open

Editor:

- Portal selection with the portal link tool can now be selected from the front and the back. Previously some portals required 180 degree rotation to be selected.

- Portal status colors will now render properly with the portal link tool

- Impassable terrain and sector layers will now be visible when using ATI cards

- Fixed issue where building the mini-maps could discard unsaved work

- Fixed the sector layer list not properly updating when deleting a sector type

- Fixed system modal dialogs showing up behind the Editor window

Other Notes:

This patch updates the Miles Sound System drivers in the game. If you have manually altered or updated these files previous to this patch you will need to restore the drivers that the game installed initially for the patch to install properly.

There have been a lot of posts about people editing the main game database, code, and character files. You should always back up your original files when you make these changes or when you install someone’s mod (unless it is a custom map mod). While making mods as Custom Games is supported, editing the main game .exe and campaign database archive is not officially supported and altering those files can result in your game being unpatchable in the future, which would require a reinstall.

Just want folks to keep that in mind and remind everyone to backup any files that they are making changes to. It will save everyone a lot of headaches when they try and patch the game and can’t because they have modified the main executable or the database archive for the main game.

Has anyone noticed a change in the drop tables? I just installed it and all of a sudden I'm seeing blues and greens:) (I've got a pack full at level 13).

Hamachi network went down for update/upgrade and still isn't up yet....

we are still using the 1.08 patch since we aren't experiencing any problems with it...but we might have to try the 1.11 if others can confirm more drops.
