Fogel Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Since you're not too concerned with money, I would seriously consider buying your Parents 'puter and GF's 'puter from a place like Alienware or Dell. I know Dell bought Alienware but Alienware actually has a better price to hardware ratio than Dell does and their website has more information about the PC you are buying. The big reason I say this, if for whatever reason something goes wrong with the PC... guess who is giving up his time to find out the problem? So let a PC manufacturer deal with that headache. I would plunk the cash down for at least a 3-year warrenty. I bought my parents an Alienware for that very reason... especially since I don't live near them. Alienware has an option to insulate the computer from noise... but I don't see the reason for it. I got one without it and the computer is completely silent ...and i mean their case is right by the monitor so if it made noise I'd hear it. I'm using it right now in fact. Only thing they don't like is that I got them the Full Tower so its HUGE. I should of got them the mini-case. I can't vouch for the noise ratio on their mini-case but you could always call them and see if the sales rep has any clue. Not sure if they deliver to Mexico but worth a try at least. ciberfog Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Hey Fogel thanks for ur advice, yeah im thinking in that, I bought a alienware before and yeah was great. i think is the best option for my parents, but my gf dont like alienware, she is like Mac Mac Mac, so thats why im trying to build one myself so she can accept my PC option lol. SeanDude05 Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 I wouldnt waste the money on an Opteron 285. Get a 165/170/175 series Opteron if you want dual-core for your 3d PC, and just overlock it, throw some good cooling in there and use the money you saved for some more hardware. Spend less money and the 2** series Opterons are for dual processor server mobos anyway.
