How Can I Unlock My Athlon Multiplier?

My AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 400FSB runs at 2.1Ghz opposed to the 2.7Ghz of the 333FSB version. That's a multiplication factor of 10.5 for mine, and 13 for the 333fsb Barton. So I'm looking to up that for sure, especially since i have never exceeded 25 degrees celsius with the default speeds!!

I am looking for a ghetto (and by that I mean free or cheap as hell) method of unlocking the multipliers. My system specs are below. I would appreciate the help guys. Thanks, - Matt

Yea that's what I thought too, but it is definately locked. My BIOS is quite similar to ASUS mobo's BIOS. I havent tried much software to overclock assuming that cause it's locked from the BIOS software wont matter.

So still if anybody knows the easiest way to unclock an Athlon XP manually please post up and lemme know. Thanks

amd does not have a cpu that does 2.7ghz are you talking about the 2700+. 2.1 ghz is the stock speed for the 3000 on the 400 fsb and uses a multi of 10.5. you can probally gey 2.2gh -2.4ghz depending on cooling. just go into your bios and raise your multi to 11 that should have it post as a 3200+ @startup . your cpu is already unlocked with the nf2 mobo but you can only got from 5-12.5 multis. to get any higher than 12.5 you would have to mod the cpu to default with a 13 multi then you couldnt go below 13. also up the vcore a lil if its not stable . you could also raise your fsb upbut will probally need a lil more vdimm most nf2 boards dont like to go past 210fsb but your mobo has n/b voltage options so you could probally get it over 210 if your ram can handle it

Oops, yea typo on the speed there. I meant 2.17 Ghz instead on 2.7. And furthermore after so many responses saying that the nForce2 MOBO will unlock my multiplier, I guess my only problem is finding where to change it. On the BIOS screen the only options I get as far as clocking the CPU are Optimal, Aggresive, and Turbo modes. All of which up the FSB a tad rather than the multi. I will try to get a screenshot of this section of the BIOS so that you guys can see why I'm having problems finding the right setting to mess with. Thanks to all those who have posted thus far.

your chip isn't locked on an nforce2 board. I got my 2500 to 2.4ghz. make sure you aren't doing large OCs at a time. go small and really utilize your multiplier before fsb. and teh voltages. OCing is an art, not a skill.

you need to get the latest bios for the chaintech if i rem correctly the bios that came on the mobo doesnt have multi adjustments. new bios should open the multi options . check under cpu ratio if its not a option for that then you for sure need the newer bios
