2 gigs of ram and pagefile size

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering what would be the best setup for games with the pagefile. No page file or a small one or whatnot. My drive set up is a raid 0 with 3 partitions, 10 gig for os, 100gig for apps, and 290gig for storage. I'm wondering how to best set up the pagefile. any ideas are welcome

Uh Oh....i would resize your sig dude

Signatures may contain images no larger 50kb in size, and be 650x200 pixels.

yours is 639*280 @ 90k

I usually just put my pagefile on a seperate physical drive (SATA01 = OS, IDE01 = Pagefile), about the same size as my ram (i have 1gig ram, so i have a 1 gig pagefile) but since you have raided drives, i dont think you will take much of a performance hit wherever you decide to place it. Not too sure on what size you should use though.

Here, we go again... The search function will show at least 5 threads about the same thing. You have to fix your signature according to forum rules, go to the custom signature thread, if you need help doing so.

After tons of various setups I barely notice any differece performance wise. Use logic; Place the pagefile in the beginning of the fastest hard drive, use a fixed size ie: same min and max. 4096Kb is maximum size for XP, I set my min and max for that.

Same here.. I went through alot of testing a while back and to be honest Ive never noticed a difference in performance in where I placed the page file..

I do however set the min and max the same.
