Urok Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Well, as I have posted earlier, my NF4 NIC has died. Simply says network cable unplugged, no lights light up when connecting with a known good cable and connection. I'm willing to try some solutions, but I am more interested in if this is reason enough to RMA for a board with both working NICs. UberIcarus Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 If any portion of the board is non functional you can RMA it...of course alot of the time you can just buy or asked to be sent a new plug-in nic. I hate going through the RMA process myself.
greatscott68 Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I'm sure that is reason enough to RMA your board, if it's worth the wait for a replacement or repair. I would just use the other nic, but hey - that's just me. No way would I want to be without my Expert, or go through the hassle of uninstalling all of my WCing, when I could just use the other nic. Now if you needed both, well, that's where your decision would have to be made...
Urok Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Ah, I wouldnt mind a plug-in NIC ... Is that a PCI(-E) NIC card you're talking about or actually replacing the onboard NIC itself?
Prostock62 Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Have you tried to manualy put in the( nic) mac address in bios? The address should be on one of the pci slots.
Guest caffeinejunkie Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Device Manager --> Right click properties on the network controller --> Advanced --> Speed/Duplex Setting --> Force 100 Full Duplex sometimes forcing 100 full duplex will "wake up" the lan
