veener88 Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I was able to get about $200 together for some ram now that I have Vista I need it. My i Gig is no longer cutting it. I am just confused on what to get. It seems like OCZ or Gskill is the way to go but I am not sure. I have never OC ram but for searching for what to get I am getting a little bit down of what I need to do. Like I know now I sould install each stick one at a time. If I am missing something that I sould get other then these please let me know I just want t make sure I am set to go for OC. For the Gskill I am thinking: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231021 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231047 They are the some price right now. or if OCZ: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227078 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227056
jelly Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I would say go with this memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227066. I have been running this memory for a while and no probs. I have been able to get my timmings to run at 2.5-3-8-3 at 2.8v. I have always ran ocz, and they have never let me down!
veener88 Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I do not think that will work on my board it only shows I support up to PC3200.
Guest caffeinejunkie Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I do not think that will work on my board it only shows I support up to PC3200. No it will work on your board pc3200 is just the max supported speed at stock. The nice thing with pc4000 is that you instantly have ram that will do 250fsb stock which can prove very helpful when trying to reach higher clocks with 1:1. But id say go with the first pc4000 gskill that you linked
smolt Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Id go with your first Gskill link aslo. and your first ocz link is DDR2 and will not work in that board
veener88 Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I just noticed my first one will not work either. Man I messed this up. Well I think I have it down to what I want to get. The OCZ is about $40 because of the rebates though then the G.skill. Is there a large difference between the gold and Titanium? Thanks for any help G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231047 OCZ Titanium 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227056 OCZ Gold GX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) System Memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227063
Guest BFG Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Correct me if I am wrong but i believe msmolt was refering to the ddr-500 G.Skill not the pc3200. IMO Get the DDR500 G.Skill, but if you want to get pc3200 then get the OCZ Titanium becausae it has way better timings than the pc3200 G.Skill. veener88 Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I have to get the pc3200 because of my MB that is all all it was support. I was thinking the Titanium. Thanks
Guest BFG Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 No you are incorrect, while no AMD board currently "supports" DDR500 they can all run it just fine and dandy, and it will give you more headroom in your overclock. If you are overclocking you should get the DDR500.
veener88 Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 But the problem is that is PC4000 and I only suport PC3200 or am I wrong with that to. I am with the NF3 25gb.
Guest caffeinejunkie Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Veener it's not a support issue infact it's not even an issue at all. Stock speed of the the fsb is 200 you multiply that by 2 which is DDR400 or pc3200 thats where they get the "max supprted speed" from. If you were to put DDR500 (pc4000) in your system then it would just run at pc3200 same with DDR600 or whatever you throw in there. Now pc4000 becomes useful when you start overclocking because with pc4000 your guaranteed to be able to run 1:1 up to 250fsb which is a good thing. Hopefully that finnaly clears this up for you. veener88 Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Thanks that does. I have to say I am not that good on RAM. This is the only thing I have not OC and I am still learning on ram. Thanks for your help.
