Vantec CCB-A1C Iceberq NF4/ATI Chipset Cooler @ $9.99

Recommended Posts

Many of you wanted me to check out the VANTEC CCB-A1C ICEBERQ as an alternative to the Evercool VC-RE for our NF4/ATI chipsets.

So, I checked them out at SVC.com

Well, I've had it in a couple of days, and I just got my new Canon A620 so I thought I'd take a couple of pics to get the hang of this new camera...

And I installed the VANTEC CCB-A1C ICEBERQ on the NF4 Expert SLI-DR board. It has an ATI X850XT-PE video card installed. I can also take a picture of it with an X1900XT with either stock cooler or Accelero aftermarket cooler if you want.

anyway, the pics imbedded in the page are reduced by 50% so if you want to see full 1600x1200 (this stupid camera does either 640x480 or 1600x1200 or higher but nothing in between 640x480 and 1600x1200 grrrr), click the link after the picture

and here's another of it from a different angle:

I'll test the second one I have on the remaining boards, and probably order some more from SVC.com when I can remember ;)

I'm really liking these...but they are a bit tougher to install...but same exact basics as the Evercool VC-RE so if you want an excellent tutorial on how to install this VANTEC CCB-A1C ICEBERQ , just watch the Evercool VC-RE Video Tutorial.

The VANTEC CCB-A1C ICEBERQ is smaller, and just as short as the stock chipset fan...so now you have two choices!

Enjoy! (please remember to use the links provided in this thread if you decide to purchase one for yourself. Ordering through these special links helps DFI-Street, which in turn helps you!)

Happy, no pics of the "extra" stuff you get with the iceberq? Those 2 extra heatsinks they give you make for some great decorations! :D

Too bad they are not made of copper like the integrated heatsink w/fan. :(

I was just lookin' at the specs on this cooler - although the fan also runs at 5K RPM, like the Evercool, it's only rated at half the airflow (3.5CFM vs. 7.8)?

That seem right, HG? How do they compare noise-wise?

The Vantec looks nice!

I installed a vc-re 2weeks ago and how are the temps w/ the vantec? Better then the vc-re?

honestly..I have not had a real chance to find out yet...I just got it installed then used the rig playing games on the LAN with my out of town buddy until 4AM...today I suppose I will fool around with it a bit

should be especially nice testing since I have an X1900XT vid card in it with an Accelero aftermarket cooler...which shifts hot air DOWN to the pci/pci-slots instead of out of the back or front of the card/slot.

This always ends up giving users higher chipset temps since hot air is being forced down right into the chipset fan lol

As for noise...it seems a little less noisy at full speed than the Evercool

ONE IMPORTANT THING:

the Iceberq...doesn't have an RPM wire...so you don't really know how fast it is moving.

I am also going to order a couple of the $6.99 aluminum ones to see how well they perform also

Come to think of it, the Crystal Orb is about the same size (50x50x15 mm) and puts out 12.4CFM @ 26.4dBa.

SVC don't look like carries it, but these guys do:

Need to have a 3 way shoot out, and see which one gets the best temps. :)

the Evercool is only 45x45x10mm

the Iceberq is 51X59X14(mm)

which doesn't make sense

since the Evercool is a much bigger (in diameter) cooler

dunno...but the Iceberq is nice so far...other than it's a little more of a pain in the butt to install as it doesn't use springs

I've been thinking of seriously hitting Home Depot or something and getting a few nylon nuts and bolts etc as I always like that method better (much much less chance of chipping the chipset chip haha...say that 3 times real fast)

So is there any consensus on which one to get? No pages and pages of diligent research, test scores, temp graphs? What do I pay you for anyway!?

Seriously though, I'm interested in buying at least one of these. Is it six of one and half a dozen of the other?
