Conroe Question

Recommended Posts

My wife has an Alienware, (I Know.) that has a 3 ghz. Prescott LGA775 proc. and I noticed that the Conroes are gonna be socket 775 also. Do any of you think I would be able to put one of those baby's in her Alien???

Thanks.

He means she got ripped off by paying too much just because it has the Alienware name on it.:)

He means that any self respecting computer nerd dosent like alienware because you can build so much more for so muchless and would complain about the fact that he got one. I almost complained anyway.

I would never buy an Overpriced Alienware for myself. My wife wanted it. You definately do not get what you pay for. I'm sorry I bought it but it's an OK system.

I've never seen a DIY laptop, yet.

Keep it on topic guys...

And yeah, you'd have to make sure the chipset on the board is compatible.

Remember, the chipset on the NF4 isn't compatible with Opterons either. ;)

Only time, and people willing to experiment will tell wheather or not it works.

The Conroe will run on the Intel 975 chipset on boards that are constructed to support the Conroe.

The fact that she's already got her rig means it's highly unlikely that you can simply swap the processor even with a BIOS update.
